SF2 is a classic among strategic rpgs, and remains a wondrous game even to this day.

If you like strategy rpgs...or even if you just like a playable game with a good caste and story, you should definitely give this game a try.

This was my very first Genesis game and my first RPG. I have very fond memories of this game and I played through it at least 4 times. If there is ever a game that deserves a remake, this is it.

If any of you get the chance to play this game, don't hesitate.

If it appears on the Virtual Console, I might. It's likely to happen, as the first Shining Force is already on the VC, and I decided it'll be the next VC game I'll be downloading.

This game is one of the loves of my life. The pure good and evil battle between Bowie and the Devils is one of the best conceived for the consoles.

The final battle is one of the most epic for me, too.

Excellent battle system and graphics. I have a copy of this game with the box and everything.

Actually, I'm second-guessing getting SF1. The battle encounter theme sounds annoying. *dadaDaDa FWEEE FWAAA!! FWEEE FWAAA DO DAT DADAAAAAAAA!*

And few video game songs annoy me.

One of my favorite parts is how all of your heroes can be promoted at Level 20. When they promote, just about everyone becomes increasingly more badass.

Favorite Part:
[spoiler]The final battle as a whole. Difficult, but not overwhelmingly so. Damn King Galam. Bowie vs. Zeon: Sticking a sword in Zeon's face as the final blow in the game is also made of win.[/spoiler]

Saddest Part:
[spoiler]Having to fight Oddler/Odd-Eye after he regains his memory. What a bittersweet battle to fight, even though that dude was damn vicious in combat.[/spoiler]

I agree... I recently played thorugh this on normal sometime in 2007. And you know, Ix... it seems that [spoiler]every blind character in any video game seems to be badass... always. Maybe blindness isn't as much of a handicap as once though.[/spoiler]

I've only played through the game once, and I didn't even beat the optional battle at the end. I should really consider going back and playing it again. Aside form Bowie being broken as hell, Sarah as a Monk and Peter as a phoenix were like the total party saver there. Oh... that reminds me. When I get home, I screen shotted a battle that I will laugh at pretty much every time. I'll load it up here when I get home here in about two hours.
