Obviously, there has been little to no activity in this forum. Something needs to be done to keep the place alive. So I suggest several of us banning together ro make an RP to keep the people coming. Those wanting to join with this attempt to keep the place alive let yourself be known. If we put our heads together I'm sure we can come up with something.

I'm game!!! When I first joined the mag they were still somewhat active. It seemed the second I decided to join it stopped. If you need anything just asked Jamos. I'll help with whatever needs to be done.

Do you have any basic ideas yet? Well I'm gonna start to brainstorm some ideas. I hope this works!!!

I was thinking of somewhat of a dungeon crawler with a card based battle system. I've already thought up some things, like certain stats being changed upon LV up once you complete certain actions. Kinda like this:

15 successful attacks: AIM +1
10 successful attacks in a row: AIM +2
10 kills: HP +2
5 kills in a row: ATK +1
10 successful dodges: DEF +1
6 successful dodges in a row: HP +1 DEF +2
10 successful team attacks: ATK +2
5 team kills: ATK +1 STA +1
5 heroic saves: STA +2
Kamikaze: STA +2 DEF -1 ATK +1
10 successful fist based attacks: HP +1
10 successful sword based attacks: ATK +1
10 successful spear based attacks: STA +1
10 successful shadowblade based attack: DEF +1
10 successful gun based attacks: AIM +1
10 successful healings: Heal 5%
10 fisted based kills: HP +2
10 sword based kills: ATK +2
10 spear based kills: STA +2
10 gun based kills: AIM +2
10 skill based kills: Skill +1

Depending on preferred weapon type, bonus stats added.

Sharpshooter

Stats: HP 1 ATK 1 STA 2 DEF 1 AIM 3 Heal 0%

Brawler
Stats: HP 2 ATK 3 STA 2 DEF 2 AIM 1 Heal 5%

Lancer
Stats: HP 1 ATK 2 STA 3 DEF 2 AIM 2 Heal 3%

Shadow Knight
Stats: HP 3 ATK 1 STA 2 DEF 3 AIM 1 Heal 10%

Divine Knight
Stats: HP 2 ATK 3 STA 3 DEF 2 AIM 1 Heal 15%

Spotter
Stats: HP 0 ATK 1 STA 3 AIM 4 Heal 2%


STA (stamina) being used when you attack. The amount of stamina lost is determined by the card used. Once stamina reaches zero all stats are down 50% temporarily. Oh and the Heal stat is a bonus for healing based cards. For example: Such'n such card: heals 30% of max HP. Used by a Divine Knight would increase it to 45%.

Seems interesting. The best way to see is how those stats would play out. And if this will be a easy method for people to follow. :)

I’m just going to throw this out in the open and say the card based fighting doesn’t really appeal to me very much. I really like the dungeon crawler idea and all of the special boosts depending on the class. The level up’s is also a really neat idea.

The main problems I see with the cards are a) we would have to come up with hundreds and then have to distribute them to however plays. That could be a lot of work. B) I think it would take from the player’s imagination. I know I have never actually been apart of one. But from my stand point it seems the appeal of an RP is to be able to come up with your own character, personality, and fighting styles. I believe the cards would over shadow that and restrict the player to doing only what the cards allow them.

I’m not trying to cut down the idea at all I’m just throwing that out there. I’ll post some ideas of mine in some time once I can refine them some more. Either way I really like the level up idea. Kamikaze. :D

I'm glad where talking about this. Better to fix the problems
before diving into something that wont work. Like my game. Sigh...

My idea has been the same for a while. But the only one who can really help with it is IX unless you boys know how to program.

I say we need graphics! Pictures and maps always make a game more interesting then just text. Thats kinda what I was trying to do with my game. But things seemed a bit complicated and not many people wanted to play.

YEY FOR GRAPHICS!

Thats my only thing I feel that will give these games a pick me up.

I guess I can spend some time looking on the net for new things for this. This is my only idea at the moment.

Edit: This is like looking for a needle in a hay stack.
What happend to the D&D set up idea?
Where we all where making stats and stuff? Or you need me to help with running it?

Edit2: Ok I'm just going to start a new something.. Get this back up in shape. The arcade that Ix made for us is nice. But our minds are wild places and we should have fun with it. :D

Probably multiple short stories. A game without any particular goal could become tedious.

I did some thinking about the class type idea you had. Like the sharpshooter, Lancer, etc... I was thinking we could have a list of class people could choose from. Each class having different characteristics and basic skills. Then each class could have a set number of skills they could choose from in the start. Say we list 8 for each and they can pick 2 to start. Then they can learn more as they level up or something along those lines.

I also thought about maybe making it so the player could make up one of their own skills. Of course within reason.


Still I see a few problems such as players creativity, but its a thought. Say someone wants to be Shadow Knight, but want to use a spear. We could have a list of basic equipment the class can use and again have one blank for the player to choose.

That's just what I have thought up thus far. Nothing too much. I'm also kinda thinking up a few possible stories.

I am somehow reminded of FFT. I like the mulitiple class idea with the skills and whatnot. And perhaps allowing a character to create a skill every x# amount of skills learned.

While I like the idea of allowing the player the choice of what weapon and class they want, that could lead into some problems at first. For example, A Spotter wielding a sword or fighting with his fists. He clearly has no HP boost along with poor attack power, so he would be destroyed quickly.

Perhaps, have something like weapon points (WP) which can go towards what weapons you can use? For example, a sharpshooter with enough WP can bring along both a gun and shadowblade if they have enough WP. So that he has a weapon he is familiar with along with another one to master.

WP, I like that idea a lot actually. The reason I suggested the pick a weapon thing is because my personal favorite weapon is a katana, but I don't really like the "Look" of a samurai. I'm sure their are many other people with the same feelings. WP Idea would deffinetly compensate for that.

I think an over the top thing would be cool if we can come up with the right ideas. I don't know about you, but if you've seen the Final Fantasy versus 13 extended trailer they make it work and in a really cool way. With elements of magic thrown in there we can completly shatter the wall between swords and guns. Not to mention it's our world and we don't have to follow the laws of physics.
