Me and SK were hanging out last night playing God of War 2 and talking about this and that. Seeing as we were talking about the action genre of video games, we starting talking about DMC.

Then arose the question: Dante or Kratos?

We thought we may need some solid grounds on what to base our answers. For example.... the first thing you might think is DMC3 dante... because that's the most recent game. But chronologically speaking, the dante from DMC2 is more accurate. So we just kind of adveraged the three (dmc 1,2, and3)

Also, I find it apparent that Kratos has a bit more fire-power than Dante, seeing as he is a god an all, where as Dante is a demon... a HALF demon at that.

So the areas in which we debated were as such:

Power
Personality
Style/looks
Style/moves & combos
Story/history

Considering the above, who do you find superior?

Kratos mostly because I'm really excited to pick up GoW2 today. And I never got far enough into DMC to know what Dante is capable up. I guess I will be the first of the uninformed votes.

Power : Kratos hands down. Although kinda in an unfair way. He is a god (or at least close) after all.
Personality : Dante hands down. Has to be one of the koolest cats there ever was. Kratos on the other hand is easily mislead and often times you wanna slap him for hanging on to everything he's been through.
Style/looks : Dante hands down. Again, one of the koolest cats around.
Style/moves & combos : This I have to say I think the two hold evenly. Both have insanely kool abilities and pull off awesome combos.
Story/history : This is slightly difficult because both have deep histories. And both are told rather well. I think I'd go for Dante because again, Kratos hang to so much of his past that it become un-attractive at times.

So overall I guess I have to go for Dante. Although if this was a competition about all action game heroes Kratos would probably be a close second.

Power : I have to say Kratos. As much as I don't want to, but there's not much you can do aginst the power of a god.

Personality : Dante. But Devil may Cry 1 and 2, Dante. While Dante from 3 was still kick ass, He is alot more awesome in his later years. But overall, Dante is still a lot cooler.

Style/looks : I'll take the red trenchcoat and emo style hair over a toga anyday. But I belittle Kratos. He does, in fact, look really freakin awesome. It's just that Dante pulls it off better.

Style/moves & combos : Probably the hardest one to chose. But I'd go with Dante. Kratos' attack are insane and all, but Dante's give you (as the player) more of a free will to do as you please. For some reason, pulling off a 50 hit combo by hittin L1 + Square is a little too easy. I like to work for my badassness.

Story/history : The story of a Spartan gaining the power of a God, or A half demon tyring to seal up the portal to the underworld while uncovering the history of his father, the legendary knight. I'll go with Dante on this one. Kratos' is alot simpler, and I'm a whore when it comes to more comples storylines and plots (Woot Xenogears).

I guess it's apparent who I would pick...

Its all about Dante. Kratos is crazy when it comes to fighting. Dante seems much more calmer when confronted by an enemy.

While I agree that Dante fights with a more nonchalant feel. I think it's a little much saying that Kratos' style of fighting is crazy. He look as though he knows what he's doing. I guess a better world would be 'brutal' or something.

Kratos does alot of eye pleasing stunts that Dante can't do because of the insta-death moves that require either pressing a button or rotating the analog stick a certain way. But all of Kratos moves seem too preset... though in the second, he gets more than just the blades of chaos... though I've only ran into one of these newer weapons so far.
