Yeah, the US does have good youth teams.

2010 is the first world cup in which the first really good youth team will be at it's prime age.

In 2010, Landon Donovan, Damarcus Beasley, Bobby Convey, and Oguchi Onyewu will be in their mid-upper 20's.

It will be a long time before the US has a soccer tradition, but what is undeniable is that the US has a SPORTS tradition and a SPORTS FAN tradition. It is just a matter of time before the US has a strong enough fan base and hopefully, experience abroad with American style athleticism, work ethic, and mindset, will continue to develop American soccer.

2010 will be worth it. If nothing else, just because it will be held in Africa (about time, huh).
I'm also ahppy that the whole Br. national team is being 'recycled'.
In this generation, football is dominated by old players (30+ years old), commercial interests and defensive playing. Which has made the game degenerate absurdly, specially in the last world cup.

With the old people like Ronaldo (bastard weighted 90kg at the beginning of the '06 WC), Cafu, Roberto Carlos and the other mercenary biznatches finally out, we'll have more room to younger players to shine.
Our team's having a friendly match this saturday, I believe. You'll notice that except for Ronaldinho and Kaká, most of the team is composed by newcomers.

Football is in need of a new generation. Of a new energy, of a new style.
It needs to be recycled. ^^
