Thought this would be appropriate due to the whole "stereotyping" and whatnot.

It would be nice if people stopped shoving their beliefs down other people's throat's, but you don't have to hand out pamphlets to do it. You can also do it by voting a certain way, or supporting a social morality in which you maintain a non-relativistic morality. Until, we all agree, expect battles and wars.

Unfortuanately, in order to avoid depressing people about what is potentally the truth of existenence, many cling to beliefs. If you live on an island then by all means cling, but if you live in society, you will hopefully maintain the core, and lose the baggage that has traditionally come along with that core (i.e. be privately spiritual, but don't practice a public religion that speaks out against someone regarding their private life).

I would back the original argument, but I've actually made that comment myself, almost word for word. And while, I don't say it anymore, I still think it.

But you guys have a point. It's probably annoying to be stereotyped in with group that gets so much heat, let alone when you hold views to the opposite of what is being stereotyped.

People will always try to shove ideas down others' throats. People want to belong to a group, then they want to expand that group. Standard survival logic. Too bad we don't live in caves anymore.

As far as the comments go, I guess people want some one to blame for all the problems in the world. Christians seem like a good candidate. Statisticaly there are over 2 billion of them, it's gotta be one of em right?
Kinda like how people like to blame stuff on white people (heck, I do it). Sure it's unfair, but come on, everything we touch turns to crap.

I try not to blame people or groups of people for things, but I guess there's a part of the brain that does that on its own. More survival logic? Which is why I no longer say those kinds of things. Part of growing is learning to suppress instincts.

I relish the idea of getting improperly sterotyped because then it gives me the opportunity to destroy a delusion about me, thus leading to greater overall understanding.
