In the Christian religion, I've heard two different opinions reguarding one's saving. And the number of people that believe in each seems pretty much split down the middle.

Some people believe that after you are saved, you are saved for life. There's no way that you are condemed to hell anymore. Yet there are others who believe that it is very possible to fall from grace, and even though you gave you life to Christ, can still end up in hell.

I haven't really leaned towards one or the other. But I will say that "once saved, always saved" sounds a bit too conveniant. I mean, if I sincerely gave my life to Christ... but over many years started going back to a life style that is less than desireable (or worse), who's to say I still have a free ticket to heaven?

First of all grace and salvation are two different things. I think you mean is it possible to fall from salvation, not grace.

Grace is the free and unmerited favor of God, aka, it's God doing us a favor (giving us salvation), for nothing in return simply because he loves us.

Salvation, conversely, is what he gives us, complete forgiveness and the gift of eternal life.

Now, back to the topic at hand, can you fall from grace? I'd be inclined to say no, if the grace you mean is the grace I illustrated. God loves us all too much for any of us to do anything so bad that he doesn't love us anymore or want to save us anymore.

If you meant grace as in salvation, I'd have to say I'm not sure. In some regard, I'd say if your salvation in Jesus Christ can fall in the first place it must never have been very strong in the first place, so maybe it never really was real.

On the contrary, I don't think people need to worry about their salvation being the "real" thing, or worry that their salvation is a little shakey, because I think we all (meaning Christians in this case but it works for any salvation-based belief system) have times in our lives where we are a little unsure of the path we have chosen. I think this is natural and does not necessarily mean our salvation is weak or not strong enough to save us.

There is no reason why God can't change his mind on you (i.e., take back his grace). He's God! Maybe you trust him not to change, but your trust of him not to change is not necessarily enough to keep him from actually changing.

Likewise, as God, there is nothing to prevent him from giving grace to the most evil person, and never take it away (i.e., an easy free pass). He's God! Maybe you trust him not to...

And if anyone thinks that He is limited to being all good in spight of the fact that He is all powerful (and therefore should not be limited), first take a look around, ask yourself why he created the Serpent, Satan, Lucifer, and/or the Devil, and then actually let them have access to his beloved children (not to mention tortuous (as opposed to slightly) painful physical potential), and then PM me and we can talk about it.
