About hurting people with film conversation...

am I the only one who can't absolutely stand "revolutionary artistic alternative" films? Like those french things. Gah.

nah, you're not.

you're just the only one on this page of the topic so far =P

i think they're ok. though perhaps some of them aren't... it can be pretty hit or miss. ^^

we have an Arts Cinema in Liverpool which has a bar... so you can drink and watch films. it's totally awesome. ^______^

though the one in Manchester gets better films ^^;

Terry Pratchett wrote:
But you couldn't tell that to demons like Hastur and Ligur. Fourteenth century minds, the lot of them. Spending years picking away at one soul. Admittedly it was craftsmanship, but you had to think differently these days. Not bug, but wide. With five billion people in the world you couldn't pick the buggers off one by one anymore; you had to spread your effort. But demons like Ligur and Hastur wouldn't understand. They'd never have thought up Welsh-language television, for example. Or value-added tax. Or Manchester.
Crowley had been particularly pleased with Manchester.

From Pratchett's (and Gaiman's) "Good Omens". Whenever I hear Manchester, this comes up to mind. Heh. Awesome.
And more on topic... when someone somewhere manages to make a film out of one of his books, man, that'll be a major achievement. No one can do it, IMO. It just wouldn't look good.

can anyone guess the common theme?

btw... Running Man kicks a ridiculous amount of ass... possibly even more than T2 does. but i enjoy watching Arnie wander around bleating and being muscular at things whatever the context, it's great entertainment. so i can see your point. ^_^

... Heh heh. All of those films Ix mentioned are pretty good (except for Commando; I haven't seen it), especially True Lies, but ... there's just one thing about Arnold: doesn't anyone else notice the ridiculously corny lines he throws out at the end of most of his movies?

Take Running Man, for instance; at the end, after he sends that guy who was once the host of Family Feud into the wall at such an unnerving speed that there is nothing left of the man's body except the resulting fire, Arnold's only response was this: "Well, that hit the spot (*stupid grin*)." ... Ugh! Say something cool, for once!

I've recently got American Splendor from my sister and I'm dying to have the time to watch it. Anyone has watched it?
