I have recently come to rediscover one of the best (although that's a relatively small compliment in the case of 90's Nickelodeon) shows that was once revered by all former Nick fans, Salute You Shorts, the classic young teen comedy show revolving around a group of kids (also their retarded counselor) surreptitiously dumped off by their parents at one of the worst campsites in the history of fiction that did not involve a hulking gorilla with a machete lurking in the nearby woods.

Here's a clip:

This first scene with Telly and Budnick acting as the Godfather = hilarious!

.... And I cannot believe how I'd long forgotten the extent of my huge embarrassing crush on the character Zizi from this show, played by Megan Berwick. I think I can safely say many of us who were avid Nick watchers back in our teen and pre-teen childhoods probably had a particular actor or actress from any one of many Nickelodeon shows that we'd been in love with for a while, either for their actual physical appearance or the appeal of the character they played (for instance, apparently Amanda Bynes had a big enough following of male fans to recruit her own sketch comedy show based solely around her alleged cuteness). And of course, of all three of the primary female characters from Salute Your Shorts - Dina the Rich Girl, Telly the Tomboy, and Zizi the Savior of Earth and Humankind - it was Zizi whom I loved, although I was not necessarily SK at the time.

... But in these later years where I am the Protector of Angels, I would definitely have fallen in love with the tree-hugging, peace-making, delightfully bubble-headed (yes, Lantis, I said that) Zizi, now. Yes, I say that willingly, even though her character then would be at least ten years my junior.

And so, I now leave this thread open for discussion of how great this show was, or what embarrassing crushes on TV celebrities (or the characters they portrayed) that some of you may have had in your time.

I think she's a great pick!

Personally... as ashamed as I am to admit this, I was a huge Clarissa crush dork(Melissa Joan Hart). I was also quite fond, I believe, of a girl from the Are You Afraid of the Dark? series(a regular around the campfire), but that actress' name eludes me at the time being.

It's worth mentioning that Salute Your Shorts is an absolute great show in general, and I was addicted to it. Still would be if I had the DVDs!

You'd probably best avoid the film "Nine Dead", then, Fay, should you wish to retain your good image of Melissa, ... unless of course you were saying you had a crush on the character she represented, not the actress herself.

As for Are you Afraid of the Dark, though, my favorite character was probably Kristen or Betty Ann (hopefully you were thinking of one of them), for the majority of the stories they told. Vange (Vanessa Lengies) was the cute one, so I liked her character the best, but unfortunately nearly all of her stories sucked, and the girl who played Megan (Elisha Cuthbert) somehow really ticks me off just looking at her or hearing her voice.

I am completely afraid of those types of movies. I think it was more the character though for me.

Thanks for the names on AYAotD, cause' Kristen and Betty Ann were the ones I thought were pretty cute. I also wholeheartedly admit some of those episodes still creep me out (haunted train one, and especially the smoking clown one with the video game).
