During 1990 I was 21 years old and very much interested in doing Christian music in the tradition of synthesizer pop that was popular during the 1980s.
I used a Yamaha DX11 Synthesizer with an Alesis 8-track sequencer, and got a cheap mixer and mic from Radio Shack. The keyboard was run through the mixer and into my home stereo, which was a double cassette deck receiver/amplifier. Performance arrangements were created on the keyboard with drums, bass, chords, and lead parts. Each song had a different arrangement of instruments. When I was ready to record, I started the tape, pressed Start on the sequencer to play the song, and sang along with it.
During 1991, 1992, and 1993 I recorded 7 albums in my apartment. Distribution was limited (cassettes were given to family and friends). During 2001 I had a Philips CD recorder and copied what I felt to be the best of the songs from each album onto five CDs.
That collection has recently been converted to MP3 format and is now available at Soundclick.

(Note: I was never a great singer. I tried my best at the time and got better at it with experience. A few of the songs have some laughable attempts at rap. Funny stuff.)
