Has anyone seen this movie?

I saw it once a few months ago to see what the fuss was about. It's one of the films in the National Film Registry as "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant films", too.

What do I have to say about it?

Well, the plot was completely over-the-top and kinda humorous. A bonus was the main star Tim Curry, who's awesome in about every movie he's ever been in (Stephen King's IT, 3 Musketeers (1993), Home Alone 2, etc.).

I think it's one of those films that's interesting to see once but not for repeats.

That one part, though, where



was damn funny.

Another good thing about the movie is its soundtrack. The songs "Dammit, Janet", "Sweet Transvestite", "Hot Patootie", and the flagship song "Time Warp" were things that helped me keep watching when I was looking at so much stuff that didn't make much sense whatsoever.

Man, Tim Curry single-handedly made this movie bearable. If not for him, I might have just given up after the more musical first half. The second half totally lost me.

What did y'all think?

Well, are you familiar with the culture that has emerged around this film? Nowadays the film is not really meant to be watched alone, especially if you have never seen it before. The best way to watch it is by going to see it at a midnight performance at some theatre where everyone dresses up as the characters and where people act it out in front of the screen. The particularly unique thing about the experience is that the audience members yell out lines in between or over the lines said by the characters to humoursly supplement the original script. One of the best things about the movie by far is the music.

So if you really want to see what the fuss is you have to go to one of these showings. Even though you have already seen it on your TV (I assume you've never been to a showing or you would have mentioned that), you are still considered a Rocky Horror "virgin" until you've been to one.

In college my roomate and my hallmate were both die hard fans. I had only heard of it. They watched scenes in my room from time to time discussing what lines they prefer to supplement. I thought it was fine, no big deal. But then my roomate and I went to NYC at Thanksgiving break (around this time so thanks for bringing up the memories) and on the way back to school picked up his girlfiend and a friend in southern Indiana and went to a Rocky Horror Picture Show in Louisville with them and three of our friend's friends whom we met for the first time. And even though I was no fan in particular, to this day it was one of the absolute greatest memories of my college years.

I hope the rest of you have such a good time, but you gotta go with the right people and be open to being young and a little crazy.

it's like pulp fiction or dirty dancing - cult film. so it's got a cult following, and a cult mini sub sub culture or whatever. personally it's one of my favourite films and ive seen it like... maybe 20 times since i was 14 and sang the time warp and all that at lunch in school...

film is becoming such a wide and easy to make medium that it gets so serious sometimes and people forget films were first classed as a form of entertainment.

I'm a huge rocky fan, but it's nothing til you've seen it live with audience participation.

Nah, I have not seen this in a movie theater with anyone else. I just saw the DVD alone.

I'm not saying it was a horrible movie, and I like random, but it got to the point where the randomness was so random that it hurt my head and became un-entertaining and a chore to get through, even while knowing through watching the first part that "anything goes" in this movie.

I guess I gotta go with Feros to a Rocky Show someday.

I actually agree from what I remember that I like the earlier part of the movie better than the later part (story, music, etc.)

Ix, Id LOVE to take you to a live viewing. Part of what makes it fun is that it makes fun of just how..well BAD the movie is.
