The Coca-cola freestyle thing made me think of this. Every once in a while somebody shows off something that's "Such-and-such of THE FUTURE!" Well, what's going to happen when we actually get so far into the future, where everything is all sci-fi and nothing's left to advance? I mean, think about it.

Someday video games will become so advanced, you'll be able to go into their worlds, become the character, and it could look and feel just like reality or be this fun cartoon world, or any other style you could think of. What comes after that?

Someday cars will not only fly you everywhere, possibly in the blink of an eye (mini-hyperspace?), but would be able to do so without you having to do the driving. Heck, they're already making cars that do their own driving. Sure, they're still experimental, but they exist. So after we get these super-cars that might as well be Scotty's beam with leather seats, what comes after that?

And we have the aforementioned future drink dispensers. The next logical step would be to install some device that reads your mind and knows exactly what you want. But what comes after that?

Or maybe I'm thinking too much into this. Or maybe technology will never actually reach a limit. What do you guys think?

On a more serious note, the future, or the promise of the future, has always been somewhat of a disappointment to me, so it's best not to care. There will be no flying cars.

Well I don't think we will really ever hit that point. There will always be somebody somewhere who will think of ways to improve on the stuff we already we have.

In the future, air traffic control will have become sophisticated enough to handle thousands of flying cars in a square mile.

...In the far, FAR future.

The funny thing I see is how car companies are trying to make cars 'look' futuristic..

Is that -really- the way we have to go? Most 09's I think look pretty sleek and great compared to the old hard edges of the 60's.. even though the 60's produced some very awesome and powerful vehicles.

This Coke machine is no different.. but it honestly looks more retro to me than 'futuristic' except for it's mechanics.. I guess it's the coloring of the machine or something.

As a whole.. we'll -always- have something to say about things looking more futuristic even when we're 'in the future'.. The populace is 'never satisfied' as it were.

Well either more will emerge or we will all eventually kill ourselves and then every accomplishment achieved will be rendered useless (if of course your question includes beyond "human" accomplishments).

Nah, because in the future, we will be part of an interstellar community.

Back when the show was good.

There will never be a 'saturation point' in my mind. We'll always strive to find answers and do things normally impossible. We'll always look forward and try and do new things, and there's probably an infinite amount of things that we can expand upon.

So there is nothing "beyond" the future. It's something we'll always chase but never reach.

i'm hoping for the GITS type of future personally. i'd be the first in line to get my brain chipped XD
