This movie is a horror/comedy directed by Sam Raimi (Evil Dead/Spiderman series) and written by him and his bro Ivan. Folks, I can not talk this movie up enough. It's the freshest horror movie in YEARS.

Probably since the original Saw. I was f*cking clinching my teeth the entire way through. Nothing is sacred in this movie.

The plot is that a woman unfortunately offends a gypsy and said gypsy places a curse on the woman. The curse takes 3 days to fully materialize. Then she will be dragged to hell. The film follows her goal to get rid of her curse.

THERE'S ACTUAL GREAT ACTING IN THIS MOVIE.

It's almost like Evil Dead with a big budget. Just a great movie.

GO SEE THIS MOVIE.

GO.
NOW.

There was like no hype for this movie. Go and kick this sh*t now.

I'm f*cking serious. I haven't been this hyped for a horror movie for a good while.

It's awesome.

GO AND SEE THIS.

You sold me at Sam Raimi... though the thing I really liked about his work was it was so bad it was good. You know Evil Dead (1 & 2) and Army of Darkness weren't really recognized for their outstanding script and acting, but I'll watch Bruce Campbell beat the crap out of himself any day.

Anyway, I will make an effort to go see it. ^_^

Man, that movie scared the piss out of me. But you really knew it was a Sam Raimi movie. Specially when-
Christine starting fighting the gypsy lady in her car with a freaking stapler as well as other gags in the movie. Raimi knows how to balance this weird level of horror and comedy. A style that hasn't been seen since Army of Darkness. There were quite a few times where even though it was scary as balls, you would still be grinning.

Which leads me to a small concern. Almost every single one of Sam Raimi's films involves a star or cameo both Bruce Campbell or Sam's brother, Ted Raimi. Ted was in there... but I never say Bruce. =/

I do have a question about the movie's ending-
On the third day, she would be dragged to Hell unless she gave away the button before hand. Seeing as she failed to do so before the third day, she was ultimately dragged to Hell. BUT before she went, she did give the button to her soon-to-be fiance. Even though her soul was claimed, do you think HE is now about to go through the same three days of torment before ultimately going to Hell?

About your question....

No. As mentioned, it had to be a gift. Finding the button is a lot different from receiving it as a gift. He found it in the car.

However, I thought that her fiance was about to get taken as soon as I saw he had the button.

And at the end, the poor girl was f'ed either way. Though I would have rather been hit by the train.

Well yeah, assuming she was of religious faith, death by train could ultimately take her to Heaven instead of hell. But assuming that she wasn't (because the movie never stated) she might have been going there either way. In which case, being carried there by hands is probably a lot less painfull that a train to the face. Honestly though, why the hell didn't she just honestly tell him exactly what was going on. It might have changed something.

wow, i just saw this yesterday - it was hilarious.

nothing in it was scary at all. the only thing that made you jump was OMGBOO! shock value. while that's ok, it doesn't make an amazing film like evil dead trilogy or whatever. it was a lot better than i thought it was going to be, like i thought it was going to be a really bad overproduced horror/thriller.. but instead we got a brilliant comedy! but the gags just didn't have the same value as the b-horror awesomeness that has come before. it didn't suck, it was worth going for sure. but they missed the target.

but no way man! the best part was TOTALLY when she was at his parents house and a f*cking EYEBALL pops out of the cake XD and the fork is all like wiggling around hahaha

I competely agree. Though the 'omgboo' parts really caught me off guard most the time. But yeah, this was quite the throw-back to Raimi's older work... and I appricate it for what it's worth. Actually, someone said in a review that Raimi doesn't work as well when he has a high budget. It's when he has piss poor props and effects that really pull out his "style."

I agree, also I enjoyed when she was walking around her house going, "heeeeeere kitty kitty kitty." Oh, and stapler fights... can't forget stapler fighting.

the stapler fight was too much like a proper fight i thought. it's like there was a really good gag there that they didn't cash in on =( but yeah the 'kitty kitty kitty' with the knife part was good. just cus it was such a totally change of her stance ha. as if the cat would please a monster anyway =P it just wasn't epic enough *sigh* what would really be epic and redeeming is if they did a sequel where her boyfriend did a seance thinger and fought devils epicly to get her back. XD

BUT! we saw the afternoon show so we got a film to watch at home called Planet Terror which is AMAZING! it's "zombies, babes, guns and gore - what more do you need?" a sort of zombie survival film that has too much awesome for even itself to hold! believe me.. it's worth traversing the darkest corners of ebay to lay your hands on. this film is TOO GOOD! (and it has bruce willis)(and it's from the same people who did the sin city film)
