That's what happens when we let a bunch of lawyers run this country.

For me it's the thought that I'm bailing out a corporation for it's own stupidity, when I know better than to think the corporation would do the same. Many corporations make bad decisions, and if they don't correct those decisions they go under, that's how capitalism works. There shouldn't be a government safety net for companies that make such risks (especially not for ones that don't really benefit society, unlike things like transportation, communication, and education [though even these have pretty decent long term returns on investment]). From what I heard the banks were giving out money without checking that the person had substantial collateral, or even a good enough income to make the payments. And now they are reaping the fruits of their labor with the inevitable outcome. Our society encourages living outside your means enough without the promise of basically free money from banks. If private investors want to take on the bad debt, go for it, but the public should not have to spend their money on the stupidity of others. I would rather have my tax dollars go to public seminars on budgeting, and improving schools and intelligence in this country, than to apply a band aid to an self inflicted amputation.

This is all besides the massive inflation that will come from the government printing money like it's candy. I'm not sure how much longer we can afford to increase the national debt, because right now if China were to call in their loans I have a feeling we would be pretty f*cked as a country.

So read this and tell me you still support it http://thislife.org/extras/radio/355_transcript.pdf linked from here http://thislife.org/Radio_Episode.aspx?sched=1242

Reminds me very much of the events of Atlus Shrugged, a little different motivations, but some similar threads.

Pretty much this.

This stupidity we live in reminds me of when everyone realized they need signs and labels to tell them that coffee is hot and no matter how badly you want toast in the bath, keep the toaster out of the tub.

So now J.P. Morgan will throw the toaster in the bath and enjoy the free money.

Um... okay, then I declare that this bill not pass!

Also, for TTC's links to work, take the period off the end of them.
