As long as people post and use RPG Maker, any of them, the Mag will not die.

I don't think we need new RPGMs for the community to remain interested in RPG making, but I don't think the Mag is really strongly grounded on the posting and dowloading of games. Maybe it was before I got here, but now it is more of an online community concerned with relating about professional video games, Youtube, etc.

In that sense, it doesn't need new software to survive, but it also can't rely on the old software to stay alive.

Explain what you mean on the bolded more.

Do you mean the Mag, the actual site, or the forums part?

And to everyone, the site can't stay focused on RM if people are uninterested. I've been trying everything I can think of to pump some new life into it, but I can't fight apathy.

@Ixzion

What I mean in the bolded part is that there is no denying that the Mag is a very important part of the RPGM community with respect to the posting and downloading of games, so that may have been poorly phrased. What I do mean though is that their would be little community if the only thing the Mag had was game posting/downloading and RPGM discussion. Luckily, their are other forum topics that aren't related to RPGMs at all and I think that is what really keeps people here, myself included.

I'm not as active in RPGM creation/playing as I want to be, but if I could manage it, I'd be fine if that was all the Mag was about IF that had an active following.

As I said, maybe that was the basis for keeping people here or at least active in the community before I became a Magonian, but now it seems that the RPGM stuff is more a bonus to the professional game critique, viral video, occasional opinion web site that you/we have here.

EDIT: When I say the Mag, I mean the overall site including the Magazine, the forums and the non-forums location. Obviously the Magazine itself is all about RPGM and maybe the non-forums sections have a lot of hits, but the community doesn't seem to be largely RPGM focused, only somewhat. The second biggest complaint I have is that many forum people don't make, or play RPGM games. The biggest complaint I have is that those who make and play RPGM games aren't active in the forums.

well if the hardware-being the ps2 and software-rpgmakers will all become obsilite in forthcoming years and the only people still using it will be the hardcore fans and some guy who found it at a garage sale for a couple bucks because hes a poor noob and has to steel neighbors electricy to run his little 7in tv and fatboy ps2 with no covering and all he ate all his memory cards cause he got hungry so he cant post games online cause the only time he can get online is when his neighbors arnt home and he crawls throught the window to get to the computer only to find out the computer is locked. So that being as it is im not trying to be mean or anything but how with sites like the Mag and Pavilion keep going without no fuel to feed the fire and all the campers(magonians-pavilionains) have left to move on to a better fire. my question is WHAT THEN ?

@DarthForth

I think this site has a strong enough following that it will evolve. First of some of the PS3 is backwards compatible with all the console RPGMS I believe. Also RPGM XP is on the PC so that shouldn't become obsolete, but even if we were at the point where very few really had access to RPGM, I still think this site has a lot of interest with respect to the other things I mentioned before.

At the very least, it could still be a site about game design ideas. Afterall, much of what is posted are game design ideas even if the overall games never get made.
