Okay, so here's the deal. Tuesday around midday, we had a power surge in the area that left the power out for 15 seconds. I was pissed that I got cut off of MGS2 twice in a difficult location, but that's the least of my worries. My dumbass computer had to take a hit. I tried turning it on that night since I forgot my computer didn't boot automatically after being powered off or whatever. Anyway, the idiot box decides to not boot up multiple times until finally, about 10-15 minutes later, it finally pulls up my desktop. About halfway through loading my toolbar, it freezes again. So, I power down the computer and start it up again. I have a problem again. Now it will not even load Windows.

I waited a whole day to give it a try again, but it was still having problems. I readjusted my BIOS a bit to change priorities to see if it would change anything. After that and powering down, it worked... until my desktop showed up. Now I can't even get past the Gateway screen when the BIOS is supposed to boot. So, now I'm stuck without a desktop. Now I'm not sure if it was the surge or some stupid supposed virus that was supposedly on my computer. I just want to know if there's anyway, that doesn't involve taking it to a shop, to make the idiot box work.

EDIT- Now the damn Hard-Disk cannot be found to boot. It seems like a damn virus problem.

I'd reformat. Though I'm sure you don't have a slaved drive for all the data you don't want to use. So if you go down the reformating path, here's what you'll need to do.

Go to walmart, get a external hard drive enclossure (assuming you have a IDE hard drive still... not sure if they have SATA external enclosures at walmart). go home and get your hard drive out of your computer and put it in the enclosure and take it to another computer somewhere so you can hook that up and get off all the data you don't wish to lose.

Go back to your computer and put your hard drive back in and reformat that b*tch. After the OS is running again, repeat the process of pulling out hard drive, taking it to the other computer and putting you data back on it.

If you aren't wanting to reformat... well, you may be shafted. You can try pulling out the BIOS battery for a few minutes, which will restore your BIOS to the factory standard settings, which may help... but it's just a shot in the dark.

But I don't see really anything else helping all too much. Which sucks man...
