Okay, this probably won't work, because of how extremely embarassing as hell it is. But hopefully you will participate never the less. Here's a web site that has a small database of MIDI songs... but they are in .kar format. This is a compatable media type with Winamp and will pop up a window whenever played that will show you the lyrics... and hightlight over them when they are needed to be sang in true karaoke style.

If there is enough activity in this thread, I'll do a rediculously embarassing song in compensation. Browsing through their collection, I find Lisa Loeb's "Stay" to be the most awkward one for me to do. I'm definately open to another of your chosing though.

ah, iunno about being more careful what you say... i just sorta figure it's the case that if you post something that might not work, it's best not to be too bothered if, you know, it doesn't work. ^_^

Honestly speaking, it wasn't the fact that it didn't work that bothered me. It just didn't need any extra help... not working, ya know? Sorry if that doesn't come off making much sense, I never claim to make any in the first place.

This'll be one of the few times I'm intentionally making myself look like an idiot, but, how do you intend to record yourself singing?

The only way I can really think of is to use the recorder software included with Windows.. can that support both incoming and outgoing at the same time without massive amounts of feedback?

There are two ways to really do it. Listen to the file and record yourself singing. Then, in the recording sofware, there's an option to insert an audio file through options. Select the song and it should match up with your voice just fine.

The other way is to use Goldwave or Audacity... or whatever sound editing software you might have floating around.
