Got this idea at Wal-mart (of all places)
Describe your j0b and others will rate it. I couldn't think of any good criteria to use, so just post your thoughts. be describtive, but don't reveal any information you don't want to.
I suppose I'll start.
I work at a local place called Trade A Game Inc. on a busy street. Here, we trade games depending on their value.
How the store works: Say, you have a 15 dollar game, and trade for another 15 game, it's a 5 dollar trade fee. You can trade that 15 down to a 10 dollar game for free. You can also double trade for one game for free. So, you can come in with lots of games and get a good amount of games without paying any cash. There are also collectable games that are higher than average (around $20 for ps1, and 35 for other systems) that can be bought or traded with another collectable.
Pros: -Flexible pricing
I find one of the biggest advantages to working at a local store is I have the freedom to price items how I'd want (within reason). I can also give customers a discount however I see fit. It's a good feeling to give a kid a deal when he gets a game with his hard-earned money.
-Flexible schedule
On top of that, my schedule is flexible, and I've never encountered many problems settling on a fixed schedule. I can also get time off whenever I need it, and the workers will fill in any days I might need to miss.
-Get your CD's clean!
We have a CD cleaner here that removes scratches, which is always handy when you have a game to get cleaned, as we employees can clean our own CD's with no charge (the usual price is 2-5 bucks.)
Cons: -No game playing
Ok, so that's not entirely accurate. When playtesting systems, we can play games, but not for that long. Somewhat disappointing, since we work in a game store, but that's life.
-Limited purchasing
Our boss doesn't like selling us stuff. Understandable, since many people try to work here just to get closer to the games they want. If I want to buy an item, I keep a good space of time between purchases (2-3 months) and buy smaller items. So, chances are if a copy of Suikoden 2 comes in, you'll be under pressure if you'd want to buy it.
