I won't presume to guess why they did it but as is widely accepted, rape is primarily about control or dominance and secondarily about sexual activity.

You know, not everyone wants to have sex with anyone that is attractive. Rape is about forcing someone to be submissive. That goes for raping men too.

As I said above, maybe the guy was religious and thought he was sinning, maybe he was gay, maybe he had an exclusive girlfriend that he loved, oh and maybe being mentally challenged he didn't have the emotional maturity to handle being forced into sex.
