Umm... A re-install is always nice. But without a backup... that's kind of silly.

I mean, if you have a slaved drive and store all your images, movies, install files, ect so you won't have to go find everything again. I tell ya, if I had to hunt down all my codecs again, I wouldn't be very happy.

Besides, I fresh copy with NOTHING just feels rather.... naked?

I like going through some of my old useless files and deleting them.

I always delete things manually so I don't accidentally get rid of things I may need.

Well i redownloaded all my important programs. Took a while, but it was worth it.

Must not have been much.

If I started over from scratch, it would take me weeks to get back up to par.... nay months.

VideoLan was the software that got it going though.

You know, people might have taken this a bit more seriously had you kept your original post intact. Especially what with the 100 stories and other not-easily-recoverable stuff you lost.

yeah, VideoLan is great. it plays anything - it will even play bin/cue files!

Sigh... kids should learn that backups save lives.

You must've had an older version, the one I have right now plays it very well. Video lan doesn't play anything I've experienced what it all plays. ADX files are out of the question on that one, also there are a few .mkv files out there. The best thing for you to do duelpro, back most of your important files online. Archive them and save the links into your email addresses.

Or get a secondardy HD... which you won't have to worry about having your files uploaded on someone else's server. Or have to worry about downloading them because they will already be on one of your local drives.
