Winter-een-mas, the last week of January, annually for it's fifth year now. ^___^ It is a week long holiday in celebration of games and the people who play them!

Originally started on Ctrl-Alt-Del when Ethan went crazy one winter because there was no heat and decided that if he had to freeze then winter should be a holiday and he got to be king of it. Somehow it turned into a whole thing and lots of people celebrate the holiday now. It even has it's own website Wintereenmas.com.

And thus is the story (abridged version) of Winter-een-mas! Check out the sites for more info. You don't have to be a gamer to celebrate this holiday. You could play cards or backgammon or even soccer and I think it would fit in well enough. They're games right? And since this is a forum all about a game that MAKES games I think everyone here applies as people to be celebrated in this holiday. ^_^

Actually, I'm going oall out this Wintereenmas. When the last week of January comes around, I have a playlist of games I'm going to play. And I suggest everyone do the same.

@HH - Actually, i see your point. even if it was a real holiday I doubt they would give people time off to play games though especially since it's basically right after christmas too.

There are lots of real holidays they don't give people time off for as well though. like they recognize christmas because it's such a commercial holiday now, but they don't recognize Hannukah or Kwanzaa or any of the other holidays around christmas time.

Do they give days off for valentines or mothers/fathers day? not sure.. hm..

I'm starting a fighting game tourney at school, mugen, MVC2, Melty blood, Guilty Gear. Too bad it can't get bigger. I wouldn't know anything of hannukah and Kwanzaa, but they don't give day offs for valentines day(suicides day), or mothers/fathers day?

Well, I'm buying either Xenosaga III, Valkiery Profile 2, Disgaea 2, or Final Fantasy XII with my Gamestop giftcard for starters. But I've also got a list that I'm still working on... I'll post it once I finish it.

I'm gonna devote my Wintereenmas to playing all the games I need to play but haven't gotten the time to.

I just bought my Winter-een-mas present. FFXII.

So I'll start playing that starting the 28th. Wintereenmas will carry over till February 3rd this year, so we can get the full week in.

Also, I've been utterly drooling at the 5th anniversary collection of Devil May Cry... but seeing as I have all 3, why would I buy it? So, what did I do? I talked SK into buying it... and then for a little hush money traded my three for the collection.

Yay, DMC hard core-ness!!!

So I'll be playing through DMC 3 again seeing as I now have the special edition with Vergil in it.


Also, me and SK are going to rent God of War and Dirge of Cerberus and give those a run-through (GoW I've played, but not DoC).

So that's the intial game plan for Wintereenmas...

I bumped the Gamer's Spotlight thread... I couldn't wait for Wintereenmas... I'm using DMC 3 SE as a warm up

I'm bumping this thread because wintereenmas is getting pretty darn close (10 days).

I've started playing Vergil Must Die mode on DMC3. MAYBE I get beat it before wintereenmas starts... I doubt it, though.

i'm gonna buy Homeworld 2 on the 27th. if i have any money then. *hope hope*

I started FFXII yesterday... good stuff too. I finished DMC3 while waiting for this week (where finished = "zomg, I erased my file!" [see worst thing to happen to you in video game thread]).

well, despite being UBERBUSY, i've arranged to play Homeworld 2 against a buddy of mine this fine evening, and i've got GW Prophecies to play through later this week... meaning i just got all 3 games w00t!

for wintereenmas.. i'm playing the waiting game.
try to see how long i can sit in available before i get a customer. the idea being i hope not to get a customer. =S

um.. other than thati would LIKE to be playing donkey kong but SOMEONE (*cough*LONE*cough*) won't decide on a price to sell his junk to me.
