Liked the original show as a kid, not so much anymore. I think what bugs me the most about it is that Gadget is almost never responsible for his own victories. It's all handled by his niece, and he doesn't even know it (nor do the villains, actually). But for this incarnation, he might be more aware of it, so I might give it a looksie.

So long as they don't screw it up like they did with the movies.

I recall reading an alternate take on Inspector Gadget is that he was always intentionally acting the way he did just to keep Dr. Claw away from focusing on Penny and allowing her to get the job done from behind the scenes, though whether or not his taking the credit was part of said act is another question.

If they stuck with only the first one, the damage would have been minimal. It's the second that left it with the bad legacy.
