Posting here for the first time today and I see a ton of familiar names from the Pavilion, as well as a few from WAY back in the GameFAQs days, so just wanted to say "Hi" to everyone! Greetings and hugs to all the friendly faces.

For those that don't know me, I've been a fan of the RPG Maker series since I read about RM1 on Antagonist (and if you know Antagonist, you know how long ago that is :lol ), and a fan of video games since I first touched an NES at four years old. I've mostly been working with XP and VX Ace as of late, but I'm pretty good with RM3 as well. I've released three games, two of which I think are a lot of fun to play and one which was a cool experiment in RM3 but is sadly crippled by a few bugs.

I'm currently in South Florida but trying to move out to California. Love to watch anime, play sports, cook, dominate board games, try new things, and just have discussions about life.

I'm glad I finally took the plunge and joined the discussions here, after lurking for all this time, and I hope to have a lot of fun with y'all at the Mag! :)

Hmm, nope no idea who you are.
That's a joke, by the way. You should visit our chatroom, sometime.

Why California over south Florida? Outside of the hurricanes, the financial situation is generally better. California is very expensive.

Hello, welcome to the Mag. We've talked on the Pav before about RPGM technical theories and whatnot.

CA can be pretty expensive. You just have to be smart about managing your costs. Not everyone here pays $1,800/month rent like me. :P

Where are you thinking of moving to exactly?

Thanks so much for the welcome, you guys! Looking forward to good times here, for sure.

As far as why California, I've been there a few times and I love it - and additionally, it's a great place for jobs in tech. Ideally I'd love to move to the San Diego or Orange County areas but what I've seen of San Francisco and Monterrey, for example, have been wonderful too. South Florida's certainly nice but I think Cali will be more fun and more diverse. Having spent $1400 a month for my apartment in Fairfax VA (and a lot more than that during the summer I worked in NYC), I'm ready for the CA Sticker Shock!

I live in Woodland Hills, where the rent is a bit pricier than a lot of other areas. One bedrooms start at about $1400ish for someplace decent (at least for my definition of decent). But most people I know out here pay around $1,000. Or a lot less, if they get a two/three bedroom with roommates.

There are lots of tech jobs in Irvine, Glendale, Irwindale, Long Beach, etc. if you're looking for more Southern CA/Orange County. There are tons of tech companies in the San Francisco area; lots of start ups too.
