The only possible positive to this is that Disney has a track record with turning many of their movies into TV shows, and since this already was a TV show, it might mean a new one.

There are two ways to ruin a beloved franchise when making a movie of it:
1. Injecting CG versions of the characters into live-action settings.
2. Weaving the plot so that said characters get stuck in the modern day (if that isn't where they naturally live).

Thankfully the show took place in modern day originally, so no problem there.
