I like May coming, means summer is almost here.

Another asthma flareup, probably from a stress trigger. I also had a mini-anxiety attack last night before falling asleep, but I luckily calmed down enough to not have it be as bad as they usually can get alongside an asthma attack. I think this week messed with me more than I know over that forum thing, which, the guy has a jerk side/is unable to reason in part, so I just need to basically keep reiterating that. Not all people are like that(not even on the forum thread, which was cool to see- just like 3 people spewing vitriol over diversity), no matter how trigger-y it was. It's a new week, time for a fresh start.:D

GW2 beta ended the first weekend. Still looking like very positive experiences all-around thus far, but I don't think there will be as many people 3 months after launch. I want it to be super successful, but worry since the same trend happened with The Old Replubic, now that game is merging servers down. Though, I think GW2 can be fun with 5 people or 100 people really, so they designed that well. It so far to me has the elements of a single player game alongside a massive backdrop, meaning that in story quests(they're usually short and fun), you go alone or with a personal party, and for the majority of events in the world you're helping people with everyone else around you. People share nodes, so they've fixed that aspect of MMOs where even people of the same faction are like IT'S MY NODE!!! AHH! No more beta apparently for a month, probably a good thing.:p

I'm starting another Loomis book this week, fairly exciting. "Figure Drawing For All It's Worth". I love his prose, so much. I'm trying to make it a point to start reading my art books entirely, and then re-reading them again and again. I really need to get some new page flags. Those things rock.

And despite the initial idea to scrap my idea entirely and whatnot because of said incident, I realized that the project is partially for me and a couple people are already stoked about it. What I'm talking about is my RPG Maker VX Ace game, and I'll definitely make all my posts about it here once I feel things are more blocked out. I am the type that can just get hit with sudden inspiration in anything creative, so I have just been keeping a small journal with me. So I have some things detailed more, some are still in that super unclear gesture stage, so I will be trying to focus on ideas for that. Mise-en-place, yo.

Now to attempt to stay awake, as I've just taken allergy medicine.

Went to this Offshore Technology Conference (Convention to me), and checked out some of the things other companies are doing in the oil and gas industries. Gotta say, some of the things were pretty cool, and there were reps from all over the world there. Norway, Germany, China, Korea, Japan, Italy, etc. Lots of people walking around and a projected 70,000+ people were to show up this year. I spent 4 hours there before my legs and body had enough. I talked to some of the people repping their companies at this thing, conversations about their equipment, what I do, how I got to where I am, and so on. Pretty interesting stuff, but not as fun when you go by yourself.

That's really cool! Did they hold it at a nice hotel? That kind of subject with technology is always fascinating. I bet it was quite a good experience, as well.

They actually held it in the Reliant Center and Arena here in Houston. Too many people to hold in a hotel. They're expecting 70,000+ total for the week. There was just too much too see to be able to sit down with everyone and listen to them talk, especially since I only got a one day free pass. Plus I did talk to some of the ladies, though singleness wasn't part of the game. Ah well, it was fun being able to meet people within the professional world that no doubt know way more than I do. But many of them were cool and encouraging. Wish my team leader could be like that.

Ah, makes sense! Talk about a fire hazard, haha. Sorry about the non-single women. I need to go out and look for something like this in my profession, sounds like it really made you more optimistic, in spite of your team leader.:)

Finally got registered for Fall semester (they wouldn't let me register for the math class, or ANY math class for that matter), and ordered my book for summer semester (only $55, even with shipping to Belgium). Just waiting on the okay for my Norway trip so I can buy tickets, and then all of my major concerns are resolved. This feels nice~

That happened to me my freshman year of college, about the math class thing haha. Also a funny story- they gave me a math testing type deal at orientation, missing the last couple pages which I couldn't tell. And so I have to take Math 101(Instead of an easy Algebra course) which I ended up doing okay at since it was a terrible time slot for the class and all the way across campus.:P

Norway trip sounds fun. Is it for anything in particular?:o

Hah, yeah, I took a placement test for math like 3 years ago, and the results are only valid for 2 years. Then, I took a math class in summer of '10, but it wasn't a pre-req for anything, so when I tried to sign up for classes I couldn't since my test scores weren't valid and I hadn't done any pre-reqs :P It was a silly thing. But the class I got fits perfectly in my schedule - I start at like 9 most days, 10 the others, and I'm done either at 1145 or 1215 every day~

And yeah! One of my good friends is doing a semester of Uni in Norway, and he invited me for the Norwegian Independence Day since it's a huge party. It'd be super fun, but I need to approve it with my program, and they're shuffling their feet about it. Like, I want to leave on May 16th, and they haven't approved it yet. Pretty pissed, not gonna lie.

When I couldn't get to sleep last night, around 1:30 I just happened across that movie Urban Legend on YouTube. Not bad, really, for a slasher flick, anyway. Like the instructor in the movie, I too call BS on the urban legend about what eating pop rocks and a carbonated beverage simultaneously will do to your bodily systems. ^_^

Ix and I met up in the Woodlands and had dinner last Sunday night; had a nice long talk about RPGMaker and why the third installment totally blows, and Dead Space's colorful assortment of nightmare fuel.

At first I was worried that Nia would be there and on impulse Ixzion would reach out from his seat and do this to her when she walked by our table -> :stab ... but luckily she wasn't, so no ceremonial avenged stabbing there.

Whenever I'm in Houston, on my way in or out, Ix, we should meet up in the Woodlands for dinner from now on if you are available, and not just at Kita, either. I'm sure most restaurants around there are quite good.

Speaking of which, I also let him know a bit on our progress through SOE, as Lantis and I got quite a bit of work done the weekend before last at his crib, so I should probably post that in the studio right now, if Lantis hasn't taken care of that already.

Awesome that it worked out! I really hope you get to go to Norway. Sounds like it'd be a blast at that time.:D

As for me, I got a random PM from a pretty nice Italian dude on the official RPG Maker PC forums. So I guess I'm doing some art resources now, for his top-down zombie shooter thing. It looks pretty awesome and all that.

It goes without saying, if any of y'all need resources you got it.

I'm a little nervous, since this will be my first time replicating the RTP style, but it looks easy enough. And I totally get to make a screen with a dude akin to the RE merchant. WHAT ARE YA BUYIN. WHAT ARE YA SELLIN?

In random news, there is apparently a bird now lost somehow and chilling in the garage. GF's mom has been leaving the damn garage door open at all hours(there is a door inside that connects to the house, and it is unlocked and she doesn't close the door or lock the inside door when she comes inside). She's tried to tell her not to do it, but she does it anyways. And she's convinced the garage is the easier way to go out with steep stairs than the sunroom door, which she could totally manage better and doesn't have stairs of death. I seriously need more patience, haha. I need to step to my partner's level. Because holy crap.

Random post!

Still working with the Italian dude from the official RPGMPC forums for a zombie apocalypse game. It has been great experience thus far working on what amounts to a practice client. Well, really an actual client in my opinion since the project looks pretty cool.

Also thinking of getting a check on my thyroid. Problems run with it in my family, and I've been worried ever since my little sister had some problems last fall with it, culminating in a surgery to get rid of cysts. I am hoping everything is okay, but I am super nervous about getting bloodwork done- for both the process and results.:(

Beyond Good and Evil on XBLA is on sale right now for five bucks. Each and every one of you better buy it or I will ban every last one of you.
