Halfway through the Song of Ice and Fire series...again...and still....the 5th book...is still....not out....

Anyways...exceptionally well written series, if anyone is interested in checking it out. Though, I must caution any potential readers by saying....it is not a nice set a books. Not nice at all.

Just finished reading a book last week called "No More Mr. Nice Guy." It's about a man who professes interest in a girl he's known since high school, but is rejected. This is when he enlists the aid of the "dogs," who have succeeded in female conquests to transform him into a new man and...well, get laid, etc. It's told from two people's point of view: The man, and from the woman he's trying to woo.

Finished the Manifold universe books. Outstanding. Now reading Futures, which is a collection of novellas by four top space opera authors, including the Stephen Baxter and Peter F. Hamilton. Hamilton also brought us the epic Night's Dawn Trilogy that I will be reading next. I recommended this to Lantis as well.

finished Futures. I thought some of the characters in Baxter's "Reality Dust" felt more like props to be used to explore some philosodream he may have had, rather than persons with the depth of history behind them. But this is nothing new with Baxter and it was well told regardless. My favorite novella was "Watching Trees Grow" by Peter F. Hamilton. I wont give a back-cover brief but I will say it is just as vast as Fallen Dragon but on a much larger timescale.

The worst part is that the fifht book will cover the same frame of time as the fourth with the remaining characters. That means that we'll have to wait for the 6th book to know what happens with 5th book's crew. IT'S BEEN DRIVING ME INSANE FOR YEARS!!

I've been considering rereading that series. I love it.
Also, when I get my first paycheck, I might get Storms Gathering (Book 12 of Wheel of Time) Princess of Landover (Book 6 of Magic Kingdom of Landover, by Terry Brooks), or some book from Brandon Sanderson (The fact that he'll finish RObert Jordan's series makes me want to know more about his own books) or some book from Neil Gaiman(sp?)

I have a sudden urge to read. :|

Because of my ADD when it comes to reading, I'm currently reading three different books at once.

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (Book 5) (I was actually able to read the first 4 books without getting distracted, which I'm proud of).
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Fight Club

Yesterday, I blew through Star Trek: TNG: Xmen: Planet X. Its the third Star Trek Xmen crossover. The first two were set in the comic universe of Xmen and this one is so far the only Star Trek universe one. It was a very good read and a nice distraction from the HUGE epic space operas I am reading. I would recommend it to any Star Trek or Xmen fan.

In fact, if anyone here wants it, just shoot me a PM and I will mail it out.

How odd that this topic got bumped yesterday, when I started reading Seize the Night. Very odd indeed...

My friend got me into Dean Koontz novels, and I love how unique the characters are and how they approach each situation logically. I've previously read Intensity and The Couple and loved them both.

I decided I still need a bit of a break from space opera, so I just picked up Behemoth by Stephen Baxter. It is an omnibus of the mammoth trilogy. I am challenging myself to read all three novels with in the week. Starting tomorrow.

I'm currently reading a book made by someone I graduated college with.

It's called "Keepin' It Tight In the Old Dominion: A History of Virginia Rock Music."

Everyone go read Ishmael by Daniel Quinn, and then read Story of B. It will completely change your perspective on our society. Basically explains how we're destroying the planet, how we came to be that way, and offers some possible ways to stop our path towards destruction. From our current population explosion we'll likely hit 12 billion people on the planet in about 30 years as our population has been doubling faster and faster each time.

Definitely one of the most thought provoking series I've ever read, and worth it. You could probably skip My Ishmael as it's pretty similar to the first book just from a different perspective.

I read the first Section 31 novel the other day. It was a ST:TNG setting. Made me feel like reading more TNG books. I forgot where I left off in the series (I have just about all of them...) SO I cracked open the first and its been so very very long, it was like reading it for the first time! I since re-read it and the next two in the series. Gonna start the fourth after getting some sleep.
