Zelda still feels really good on Wii though.

And in case I haven't mentioned it, Trauma Center. I figure the option of multiple difficulty levels (including one tough one) and a good story might be fun.

And I will not be buying monkey balls. In fact, I'm not going to be buying any gimicky game like that... ever. You will rarely find a game I'd get that doesn't have a decent plot with it. There are a few... but still.

You're missing out, then. While some gimmicky games wear off all to easy, there are those that really do enhance the game. First one that comes to mind is Kirby: Canvas Curse on the DS. (But there might be those who disagree.)

I've played every Kirby title up until Kirby's Dreamland 3... the one with Goey. The only other side scrollers I play other than that is really just the Megaman X and Zero series... and more recently Odin Sphere. But then again, those do have plots.

You are saying that there are enough of them already, or they are partiuclarlry so great, that you are actually willing to give up time you could be playing PS3 (or even PS2)?

As a matter of fact, I am... Hard to swallow, I know, but there it is.

I still like PS2/3 more than I do the Wii... but there are a few titles I wouldn't prefer to pass up.

I don't know your background, but I guess that I am saying that unless you are 'falling' for the gimmick of the Wii controller, I would expect that in the last generation you would also have had the Gamecube to not miss all its awesome titles (but if that is the case why would you have never expected to get the Wii this generation?), which leaves me to wonder if it is not so much the brilliance of the Wii as it is the lack of great games for the PS3 (a problem that did not exist for the PS2 when the Gamecube came out).

I never owned a Gamecube... though thoughout the lifespan of the CG, I was around one. SK has one while I lived with him the past few years... so I had access to one, but never owned one.

And you may be right. The 'great games' for the PS3 you speak of aren't out yet. But who knows, the Wii may grow on me... but not to the point of me thinking it better than Sony's hardware.

Well technically the seemily forced inclusion of Wiimote support on Twilight Princess Wii and the might as well be a light gun aiming of Prime 3 are gimmicks.

i have two gamecubes now.

i don't really know why, but it was free, and god knows i can't turn down free stuff.

...

and on a side note, i enjoy the fact that anyone i know who purchases the wii is either considered to have probably done so, or often automatically assumed to have done so because of the great attractive power of the gimmicky controller, it's something i keep on seeing irl.

...if that gimmick is anywhere near as attractive as those who ask buyers if they bought the wii purely for it seem to assume it is, Nintendo have liquid console market pwnage on their hands.

Mostly it's just that I've gotten every new Nintendo system released (sans Virtual Boy), and every system starting with N64 at or near launch. I would've gotten it even without the gimmick.

I think that your name turning purple is much more of a happening than you getting a Wii...
