@ Insult080t - Yeah, but has she given you "permission" to get a Wii yet? Or was that not in the book... XD

Oh, still reading Eragon... taking my time though as I'm only about ¼ the way through. And just a little fyi,
Saphira is a b*tch...
Well, I finished a few days ago Dragon Reborn. I WANT To start reading the fourth book of WoT, but I decided "Hey, you still have some unread books, but don't you continue Eragon?" The more I read it, the more I hate the movie -_-;
I've read nearly 1/4 of the book. I don't think it will last me too much.

@Lantis- NICE burn! :lol You got me there.

How is Eragon? I refused to go see the movie but I thought the premise was good... I haven't picked up a new book since finishing Fallen Dragon (best book ever)
and need to hit up Barnes and Noble before I read The War of Souls trilogy again.

Heh, it's good.

SK saw the movie and told me that it pales in comparison. Seeing as I'm rather enjoying the book, I doubt I'll ever see the film and keep the name of Eragon in tact.

So.. I just read a bit more about Eragon, but forgot about it when I bought Shadow Rising (WoT's 4th book) I just finished it today and already started the 5th one.
I really like how you see so many characters that were presented a few books before.

well, i'm still reading Gormenghast. i've got absolutely no excuse, either. i'm not a slow reader.

>_< it's just that i've been... iunno. reading very small sections more or less every day, sometimes just a couple of pages. partly because i am very overworked and all right now (whinge whinge), partly because... well, it's the kind of book that you want to savour (english spelling, get over it =P). it's like... it's like very sweet food. would you eat it all in one go?

that's my best attempt at an excuse, right there. =P

... i'm actually quite tempted to read Eragon quickly now, just so i can spoiler it for Lantis ^_^

also the Wheel of Time series, though i've been aware of it's existence for some time, now.

but i'm too lazy and student lifestyley for a job right now, so i guess it'll have to wait.

also, Kafka. The Metamorphosis, the Castle and the Trial.

haven't read anything else yet, but i want to. ^^; has anyone else read Amerika? is it worth reading?

if you haven't read the Metamorphosis or the Castle, i suggest that you do ^_^

I just finished "The Alienist" by Machado de Assis (there's also a book with that same name by some weird author, but that's not it).
It's a short, 80-page tale about a doctor that studies mentally disturbed people.
Machado de Assis lived in the 19th century, and is still to this day the best example of brasilian realist prose, and arguably the best brasilian prose writer of all times.

If you, by any chance, happen to find anything by him... I really recommend trying it out.

Amerika is worth reading.
If you've ever read a collection of his short stories that contained "The Stoker, a Fragment", then you have read the opening to it.
If you haven't read his shorter works I heartily endorse them.
I, personally, enjoy them more than anything else from him.

Also, have you ever given Scorsese's "After Hours" a shot?
It's superb in its kafkaesque demeanor, which it only ought to be as it was thematically based off of The Trial.

Finished Eragon... started Eldest.

I was a little suprised how sudden Eragon ended. I'm assuming the movie ended in the same mannor.

Reguardless... I found it a pretty good book. I'm looking forward to seeing how Eldest plays out.

I swear, if I read any slower...

I guess it's just hard to find time to sit down and just read now a days. I'm still reading Eldest. It's not as good as it's former, but I like it never the less. I'm hoping the third and final book comes out before I finish it, so I guess it's a good thing I'm taking so long.

After I complete the Inhearitance series, I'm moving on to His Dark Materials. I was able to find the box set for a pretty cheap price, wootxxorz. I'll probably have the series completed before The Golden Compass hits the theators.

I should find someone who has already read the series to go watch it first and tell me if I should save the dignity of the book or not by staying at home and keeping it to myself.

*glances at Regal*

Oh... and bump.

Just read Ishmael By Daniel Quinn(Not sure on the authors name), The Fountainhead By Ayn Rand, and Prozac nation by Eleizibeth Wurtzel. All of them very good, I'm about to start reading Naked Lunch by William S. Burroughs and Catch-22 by Joseph Heller.

I've restarted Battle Royale, and just started Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
I never thought reading a chinese classic epic would be that interesting =P
I mean, after you accept the fact that after reading for 40 minutes you're still in page 12, Chapter II of CXX, and that the damn author throws 30 different character names at you per chapter (and you better remember them all when they show up again 30 chapters later)... well, it is very good. I recommend.
But again, I'm still on chapter XII of CXX... (after reading for 4 days already =P)

It's Quinn.
The Fountainhead was a good book, I thought, but Atlas Shrugged was her mangum opus, so to speak.
You should nab up Anthem. It's only 90 or so pages, if I recall correctly.
Dostoevskyan 'Underground Man', if you will.

If I had slots on the docket, I'd inspect Romance, but for now it shall have to remain untouched.

Urg, I finally let a friend talk me into starting the wheel of time series. First book is amusing so far...I'm sure it'll be a good series...just seems like a daunting task. =/

I'm currently reading the Devil May Cry novels...

I'm not sure why... they aren't that great. In fact, they aren't even good.

-_-

I read the first book of the first book of the Dragonlance Chronicles, but then gave up to read Werther. Darn, that's one good book, Werther.
Final HP rocked ^^

On the 4th book of WoT. Can't believe how amazing the series is. God possibly the best fantasy novels I've ever seen.

Wow....I just finished reading Cloud Atlas, and I have to thank Regal profusely for the opportunity of reading it. An incredible piece of work. Has the best portrayal of characters strung together that I've seen since Crash.
It's also on of the biggest philosophical mindfucks I've read in ages and only ends with the usual questions of life. However I must say, that it wrapped it all up nicely with the last few sentences.

He who would do battle with the many-headed hydra of human nature must pay a world of pain and his family must pay it along with him! & only as you gasp your dying breath shall you understand, you life amounted to no more than one drop in a limitless ocean!
Yet what is an ocean but a multitude of drops?
Ty again Regal for the fantastic read.
