Yes. Actually, the scientific name of the standard house cat is 'felis catus'. That's where my "Felix" comes from, and also probably where that "Felix" also comes from.
Schwarzkatz is a little corruption of Schwarze Katze, "black cat" in German.

The one that I knew for Ian was that it was nordic or something for John. And John's a biblic name, I don't think they mean anything.

Uh, I'm sorry, but I gotta point something out: please don't doub... I mean, please don't multiple post. ^^ You can say everything you want to in one post, and if you feel like editing it, there's an Edit option.

Yipes! Sorry, I won't do it again. :blush

And yes, biblical names do have meaning, just like most any other names. I say most, because some modern names are merely random syllables or two or more names stuck awkwardly together. I'd give an example, but I'd likely offend someone...

"^ awesome name... lots better than "james". >______> "

Heh.
There's always growing up in a time where everyone watches Sailor Moon and you're being referred to as 'Tuxedo Mask' or some sh*t.

Now that I'm on the internet, I keep meaning to look up that character, so I could know what the hell they were talking about.

Unless, of course, anyone who happens to know would be so kind as to share.

I don't know about you, but every time I look up the meaning of John or Peter, for instance, the meaning that comes out is "biblic name", as if it were enough. ^^

Tuxedo Mask was a somewhat gay character in Sailor Moon who had no freaking powers, but he did wear a tuxedo and a mask and had a knack for roses between the teeth.

"- Real name: Samantha

Samantha - "a listener" in Aramaic.
Gwendolyn - It comes from Old Welsh and means "white-haired one, lady of the new vision" This was the name of Merlin's wife in the stories of King Arthur.
And I assume you know the meanings of the others. :)

"I don't know about you, but every time I look up the meaning of John or Peter, for instance, the meaning that comes out is "biblic name", as if it were enough. ^^"

Just for the heck of it, though, John (in the orriginal Hebrew, Yeokhanan, before King James decided it was just too darn hard to pronounce) means "God is gracious" and Peter (from the Latin word "petrus", where we get "petrify") means "rock or stone".

Oh, I think that maybe Tuxedo Mask is actually Sailor Moon's boyfriend, isn't he? Or am I mistaken? I mean, it's not like I know a hill of beans about Sailor Moon.

Heh. Rock. I know now, they put in 'biblic name' just to cover things like this. :D

Nah, in anime the concept of 'boyfriend' or 'girlfriend' doesn't exist. He more likely was a schoolmate and frustrated love interest of the main character.

... Well, since you and Gnasher were talking about him all this time, do you think there is a meaning for the name "Tuxedo Mask", Aeldra? ^_^

Does Nathaniel have the same meaning as Nathan?

Also I want to know if your knowledge leads the name Dracula to the name Draco.

And how about Richter?

The Dracula's name is actually Vlad Dracul. The 'Dracul' he got from his father, a count/baron/some sort of noble. It has something to do with dragons. 'Dragon Killer', I think. That was his father's nickname because of some kind of folklore.

Hehe... Not really... :P

"Does Nathaniel have the same meaning as Nathan?"

Good question. Those two names have subtle differences in the meaning. Nathen means "a gift", while Nathaniel (Nathan-el) means "gift of God".

"Also I want to know if your knowledge leads the name Dracula to the name Draco."

Seems like Gnasher has hit the nail on the head.

"And how about Richter?"

Richter is a last name. Ever heard of the "Richter Scale", a.k.a. the numbers that you're always hearing about after an earthquake? Anyway, Richter's the guy who invented it. The closest name I can come up with is Ricker, which means "powerful army".

Here's a quick fact: Each number on the Richter Scale is ten times stronger than the one below it. I think the largest recorded ever was a six. They say that a 10 anywhere in the world would be felt by the entire world.

I heard the quake that caused the tsunami a couple years back was a 9. I can't imagine what a quake 10 times more powerful than that would do.

Well I might have been wrong about that. But you know what gets me angry? Have you ever seen the movie 10.5? It is without a doubt the stupidest disaster movie I have ever seen, with the exception of Volcano. I will admit, though, they are both great movies if you need a good laugh (I laughed all the way through Volcano, even though it was intended to be serious).

... Hmm, kind of like The Matrix.

I cannot believe that I haven't asked you this yet, Miss Aeldra, but, what is the secific meaning of the name "Sarah"? All I know is that someone once told me it means something along the lines of "princess", but can you tell me something more specific?

Jeremy- Derived from Jeremiah, which is hebrew, meaning "the Lord Exalts"

Kajak is a name I made up as a child and actually means nothing although it is the word used for kayak in some languages.

Although the name actually was put together because of two crushes I had as a youth, both who's names were Kirby. Thus the name was Kirby And Jeremy And Kirby. Kirby means "church farm in old english or settlement by a church in old german". So I guess Kajak could mean something along the lines of a church settlement that the Lord exalts which is fitting for him because Kajak seeks to make a world of friends and loved ones.

Faucon is french for both falcon and hawk, but when combined with L'Ombre Faucon the L' implies the hawk over the falcon. Ombre means shadow or shaded and can implie different meanings such as refuge, inseperable companion, dominating presence, and only percieved. L'Ombre Faucon is Kajak's title and he deals with all the meanings throughout his existance.

Well, much better than my screen name, anyway, which was just randomly taken from a random item from a random game =P

You want specific, I'll give you very specific. Sarah was the wife of Abraham and the mother of Isaac in the Bible. She was first called Sarai, which means "quarrelsome", but when she understood that she would be having a baby in her old age, (after laughing out loud at the thought, so the story goes), her name was changed to Sarah, meaning both "princess" and "one who laughed". If you can find a more specific answer than that, tell me.
