Assuming you are a Windows Loser... I mean User... It's The Famously Useless "Print Screen" button!

Press that (or Control+Print screen) (depending upon Windows version) and then open an image editor (MS Paint works) and press "Control + V" or paste the image in your favored manner.

Save, Upload, and Share!

I think the emphasis is on 'Desktop' and not as much on 'Background'... At least, I think.

But what do I know, eh?

The scenery is a photo I took from inside a car while riding through Germany (you can see the window reflections). So yeah, it still comes from a pretty boring place, weather-wise. ^_^

And Lantis... you mean... you wanted to see the icons? Heh.

yeah, I like seeing what everyone runs offten, also like to look at the quicklaunch and taskbar. No one runs their computer the same, which is why I find this topic interesting.

you wanted to show off your background, you could just start a picture thread. Like the long lost pictorial thread...

I would post the awesomeness of my default Windows XP desktop, but everyones eyes would explode at the awesomeness.

I would post my desk top. If it was working.

The background is, after all, the body itself of the desktop... with the 'stuff' being the soul =P
I guess for what you wanted, Mac desktops aren't the right thing. But whatever... It's still a desktop ^_^

@ Gnasher - umm... it's a picture. Nothing really anything more. Well IMHO anyway.

The face in the upper left? It's a process monitor... when the CPU load gets high, his face gets all bloody like in Doom.

Hate to take the wind out of your sails there Rodak, but Windows hasn't run on Dos since Me. 2000, XP and Vista all run on NT, Windows new kernel. Whether it's better is probably debatable, though it sure allows windows to keep things you don't want it to on your system, like *cough* your browsing history since forever.

I however still don't see the big deal with Mac. Yeah it's got a faster search, and they think they're in with the geek crowd too since they threw out most of their backend in favor of some flavor of BSD (or something like that), but really other than the flashy graphics is there a whole lot else behind it. I personally found their directory browser to be much less intuitive, and good luck finding out where Macs proprietary upgrade of Java installs itself. Plus there are just as many commercials and YouTube videos out there poking fun at Mac as there are ones doing the same at Windows. So while Windows is not the best, once you figure out how to use it, it does work pretty well. Now if only they would deliver that DB Backed file system like they promised.

As for desktops mine hasn't changed much, but I'll see how much I can cover it up for you.

NOTE: It is 1600x1200 so it's pretty big, also this is my secondary computer, so it has decidedly less programs on it.

And I almost forgot, XAMP FTW.
