Last couple of months have been rough and I'm exhausted in every possible level, but it seems I somehow managed to survive it all.

Went on vacation to Disney World with some family the week before Christmas. On our third day there, I woke up with a severe nosebleed that wouldn't stop, so I went to the ER. My blood pressure was over 180/120, which for those not in the know, is high enough to cause severe damage to the kidneys and/or liver, as well as cause sudden stroke.

So I got admitted to the ICU and put on blood pressure and heart meds. I stayed there for 3 days and 2 nights, and was able to be discharged in time to enjoy the last day of my vacation before I had to fly home.

In other, less (or more?), terrifying news, I've finally graduated from college.

Oh wow.
Sucks that you missed some of your vacation time, but I'm glad to hear you're feeling better now!

The only thing I am insulted by is the fact that I am represented wearing that dopey clanking armor and helm with the visor. I am not your typical knight when it comes to the way of swag, baby!

I remember getting pretty excited at the idea of a Bioshock movie when I heard it back in 2013 or so, but then of course hopes were immediately dashed that a good, or at least entertaining, VG movie would ever get made when I read further down the article of wherever it was I was reading on the subject at the time. That it would likely never be, or at least got shelved indefinitely. I think even fantastically creepy-looking Adrian Brody was being considered for the part of Jack.

Apparently this might be why:

"Video game adaptations tend to be utter garbage for one simple reason: It's hard to turn a plot like "portly Italian steps on hundreds of turtles" into a coherent screenplay. If there's one game that could break the curse, though, it's BioShock. Why? Because it already has a more cogent story than most movies.

Not to mention, way more diving suit-wearing mutants with giant drills on one hand.

The game's critically acclaimed storyline (centered on a dystopian underwater city created by a combination of Walt Disney and Ayn Rand) is ripe for the taking - and there's one director willing to do it. Gore Verbinski of Pirates Of The Caribbean fame is a big fan of BioShock's "cinematic potential" and "strong narrative," and we've already talked about why he would actually be perfect for this adaptation (assuming he doesn't succumb to the Burton Syndrome and cast Johnny Depp for every part).

Verbinski was all set to shoot a BioShock movie in 2009, and fittingly for someone named "Gore," he wasn't planning to shy away from the game's violence and general craziness. In his own words, he "just really, really wanted to make it a movie where, four days later, you're still shivering and going, 'Holy crap!'" The movie's concept art confirms that, at the very least, this thing would have been visually amazing.

But then, only eight weeks before shooting was to start, Universal Studios pulled the plug. What happened? Apparently, Watchmen did.

Verbinski wanted between $160 and $200 million to properly recreate the underwater city of Rapture, but after Zack Snyder's dour superhero slo-mo-fest underperformed, Universal got nervous about financing such an expensive R-rated film. Verbinski wouldn't budge on the rating or the budget, so that was it. The studio tried to keep going with another director, but the same problems came up again. Eventually, BioShock's creators decided they didn't need a stinking movie anyways.

We'd love to end this entry telling you that the recent string of R-rated genre hits proved those cowardly producers wrong, but it's not that simple: Deadpool cost only $58 million, Logan reportedly $97 million, and Mad Max: Fury Road didn't exactly make it rain (by Hollywood standards). Shooting an underwater city probably won't be affordable until we're actually living in one, so cross your fingers for more climate change, gaming fans!"

Meh. i don't care that most video game movies turn out to be crap. I would have been in the front seats for this one.

I've realized I have pretty much abandoned this community. It makes me sad.
I haven't been in any movie night in AGES since I'm usually attending board game nights with some friends and its one of the few things that help me keep my depression and/or anxiety more or less in check.
SO, I see this giant [UPDATE YOUR ACCOUNT] image in my sig, and I can't even remember what was in my sig in the first place, lol
