In this version, the story centers on five friends (David, Natalie, Eric, Olivia, and Mia) holed up at a remote cabin where they discover a Book of the Dead with a demonic force unleashed possessing each until only one is left to fight for survival. As we also exclusively reported, there is a drug subplot.

As previously explained, David is a mechanic and is engaged to Natalie. Mia is the friend who is heading to the cabin to detox; Olivia is her best friend/nurse. Eric, presumably, is the kid who unleashes the demons.

After a recent overdose, Mia struggles with her new-found sobriety. She begins acting insane, so it comes as no surprise that nobody believes her crazy claims of coyote dogs and trees attacking her!

Fede Alvarez directs the redo of Sam Raimi's cult classic 1981 The Evil Dead from his own screenplay co-written with Rodo Sayagues. Revisions were done by Oscar-winning writer Diablo Cody.

This is amazing. This is why Hollywood f*cking sucks. It's not people pirating movies. It's Hollywood making sh*t.

Who is this movie supposed to appeal to? It can't be the people who love the original Evil Dead who are generally men and older. Younger kids have never heard of this. And what the hell is with the stupid subplot? Good lord.

It's like... did they even watch the original? It's as if they went, "Ashely? That's a girls name... so the main character is obviously a girl."

But Raimi and Campbell were the ones that handpicked the director. And Raimi and Tapert's company is producing it.

Doesn't mean it will be good. But they are responsible for the ones making it getting the opportunity.

Nothing is fresh or interesting any more (with the rare exception of movies like "Inception"). Rebooting stuff and doing it completely different from the original is a tried and true formula to get movie-goers into seats.
