The man behind Super Mario Bros. Crossover decided he wants to get paid. Seeing as all of the characters in "his" game are owned by others, he just can't figure out how to do it. So he decided to make his own game based on his own game.

He put together a small team and is calling themselves Exploding Rabbit. ER is a loose group of eight people putting their efforts together to create Super Retro Squad.

SRS looks to be a reskin of SMBC but using all original code, characters, art, and music. The entire thing is a clear rip straight from the NES days. He even admits the characters are based on Nintendo's characters. Admitting that his characters are directly based on specific NES era ones might be his undoing should any of the original characters owners decide to shut him down.

Of course he has a Kickstarter and is seeking ten thousand dollars to pay the bills of the members of ER during development of Super Retro Squad. If they get more than they need, the hopes are that the money could be used to hire the team as full time employees rather than spare time members.

If Super Retro Squad proves successful, they would like to make sequels and even games for each of the characters in the game.

I read the title and immediately when, "Nuh-uh..."

But now... this is awesome. I'll support him... if nothing other than having an awesome first name.

I would like to see his take on the sonic games. Or even just put sonic in SRS.
