Nintendo conference has started.

YES! It's gotta be Pikmin 3! They're starting with a little skit featuring Miyamoto and Pikmin are following him. This is awesome.

Miyamoto has taken the stage to start us off. He's gonna talk about Pikmin. This is humorous. Haha, he got Bill Trinen to go out and translate for him now. He's talking about how for the Wii U, they really wanted the WUGamepad to be there so that the screen wouldn't be taken up by someone else.

He shows the gamepad in his hands. And said he always wanted to make something for the gamepad.

PIKMIN 3 is being shown! Oh wow, the game looks AMAZING. Oh lord, that game looks amazing. Pikmin can do a lot more stuff than before. There's Rock Pikmin now. You can throw them against things to bust up stuff. You can you use motion controls to aim your throws more accurately and stuff. You'll be able to see the full map on the GamePad. There's 4 leaders in the game this time.

The Challenge Mode is available to play during the show. You collect as much fruit as possible in the time limit. Oh man, I want this all over my face.

Haha, burn. Reggie said we started with the games because that's what this is about. 23 Wii U games are gonna take place on stage. Holy sh*t. Plus some 3DS.

At its core, Wii U does 3 things: changes social, gaming, and TV. Revolutionize gaming system. They have hulu, amazon video, youtube, and something else. They're gonna discuss it later, in lieu of GAMES and connecting with friends. Later, they'll talk about the integration and stuff.

Now he's talking about the Nintendo Direct show and the GamePad. Asymetric gameplay. 1 vs all, etc. OH f*ck.

MEGATON:

IT SUPPORTS TWO GAMEPADS AT THE SAME TIME!

Built-in camera, volume controls, usb port, voice input, and all that.

The Wii U console in the picture seems to be the same, but I need to check last year's.

He's talking about the Miiverse again. You can see or send text messages or use the stylus to write out a message, too. You can display recent activity and recent scores. They also have avatars. Eventually, you'll be able to join the Miiverse from 3DS, phones, etc.

New Super Mario Brothers U has been announced.

It'll have a Demon's Souls-like messaging system. And now it's a trailer!

New powerup: Flying Squirrel.

And new Yoshis! You can do something called "Boost Mode". The GamePad can have someone put blocks into the game while the people with Wiimote play the game.

Haha, got Harley's voice actress to introduce WB Prez to talk about Batman Arkham City Armored Edition.

Now this guy is gonna talk about the game and put a Rocksteady Studios guy. Special Wii-U features: You'll have the armored versions of Bats and Catwoman on the game. And it'll use the gamepad in various ways.

Introduced a Ubisoft guy and show how it can be used. New feature: BAT mode. A meter that'll fill up on the GamePad. You can use the gamepad to control the boomerangs and such. You can control everything with the Gamepad and such. Explosive gel, etc. Good stuff, but I've already beaten the game.

Holy sh*t, Scribblenauts Unlimited? Holy f*ck!

It'll use Adjectives, and maybe something else.

Now showing a trailer for Scribblenauts Unlimited. Wow, it's like Scribblenauts World or something. You can create a lot of stuff and modify your stuff on the GamePad. Damn, you can do alot.

Oh, and multiplayer mode! And it's a story mode that you can make up yourself. Damn, they brought that A-game to this one.

WiiFit U is announced. And now a peek at WiiFit U. It uses the Gamepad as an additional screen to give you more inputs and more game modes. I'm not interested in WFU, but I can appreciate them adding new stuff.

There's some new tool that lets you upload your previous workouts in it, too. Cool enough.

Now there's some game called Sing and everyone can play it. It's a music game. Seems like a party game. It uses the gamepad as the mic and you can have people interact with other peoples and stuff. Not bad, I guess. Not a fan.

Now Reggie is bringing Scott Moffitt to talk about 3DS games:

Tomorrow, 6pm. A FULL HOUR 3DS conference tomorrow for those games.

New 2D Mario. New Super Mario Brothers 2. It's all about the gold. Every enemy explodes into gold coins. Holy sh*t, this would be like Wario's dream come true. Raccoon Mario is back! YAY! Comes out this August.

And now there's an update for Paper Mario: Sticker Star.

You can use stickers everywhere. You can pull off stickers to use in battle or for items. Oh wow, this looks like a great new spin on the Paper Mario formula. I want it NOW. It's coming out this holiday!

Now Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. Oh yes. I loved Luigi's Mansion. Looking like a great followup. New ghost types, new puzzles, new everything. It's coming out this year, too. Dammit, Nintendo. I didn't want to buy a 3DS before the redesign...

Reggie's back. Lego City: Undercover is on now. You use the GamePad in various ways.

Wow, this Lego game looks seriously fun. I can't believe I'm saying this. You use the GamePad to solve crimes and stuff.

This game looks seriously awesome. Grown men in the audience applaud.

Plus a portable version is coming with a unique storyline.

Now Ubisoft's showing their stuff.

Ubisoft CEO is now out on stage. They've brought some games with them.

Talking up the Wii-U.

Talks about Rayman Legends. Now they're gonna be showing the games Ubisoft came with to show:

Just Dance 4 is out here. The dancers are out there again. You can tell people what to do on the Gamepad while the ones with the wiimotes have to do what you say. Haha. You can be a real dick about it. Not a game I care about, but cool.

Now we are seeing Zombi U trailer.

The gamepad is now a sonar. Inventory selector. Scanner. You can interact with your screen. Ooh, while you're in the middle of something, you can't see the main screen and a zombie could get you. And you can see from your cahracters point of view on the GamePad. This is looking quite like a different type of zombie game.

Reggie just got zombified.

Reggie's back and talking about Nintendoland.

This is the game that you play to understand the WiiU GamePad. He's inviting the creator of Animal Crossing and a couple more people to talk about Nintendoland. It gathers many players in the Mario universe and combines them in one game.

Your Mii visits the theme park and you explore. 12 different attractions will be available, but 5 are on the floor.

Animal Crossing worlds are there.

There's a throwing star demo in it. Basically, this seems like the equivalent of WiiPlay.

More information is going to be discussed at the Developers Roundtable.

What kind of new multiplayer types can happen with this?

The person with the Pad is gonna have different information and such. One such is the guy with the GamePad will be the super strong ghost and the Wiimotes are gonna be the weaker ones fighting off that player. As the ghost, you can prey upon the weaker ones. If you knock all 4 out, you win as the ghost. Your flashlight power is what revives your partners and what defeats the ghosts. You have to grab batteries to recharge your flashlight. Seems like a fun diversion. Maybe a WiiU pack-in?

Lots of symbols. Got Birdo, Power Lear, LOZ, Yoshi worlds, at least.

It's going to launch this year alongside the system. It's not a pack-in, I guess.

The minute they're done on-stage, people at home will be able to get some extra insight on a handful of games and the Gamepad in action.

I give this conference an A.

The conference got boring after the initial opening.

They started off strong with Mario and Pikmin and talks about all the 3rd party support (Batman, Mass Effect) but by the end, it was a little underwhelming.

They should have saved a big name game for the end, a Mario or Zelda perhaps.

Well, you couldn't really expect them to not talk about Wii Fit.

But I was disappointed with Wii Amusement Park or whatever it was. Wii Sports was more interesting because it was stuff the average non-gamer could get into. The amusement park seems more like a collection of mini-games that would feel more at home in a Mario Party game.

I vote that Nintendo took home the BEST conference. I need to catch up and watch this somewhere, should be all over the interwebs. But seriously, that's one for the bingo card haha. "REGGIE SMASH" and seems he sure as heck did. E3 should be mainly about the games, not "my console has hulu Netflix Amazon video and connects to a smart phone". We have most of those features on current gen. Having Hulu and Netflix admittedly is super nice, but it's kind of expected at this point? I don't give two copper about a cell phone thing. I just got a smart phone and I've had an iPod Touch for years, bring on the games!

Exactly what Nintendo has done. I'm excited for so much. And, offering Mass Effect 3 on there? And those other titles? NEVER something I expected from companies. This thing feels much more like they're getting back to the SNES days in terms of sheer game variety. We saw that a bit with the Gamecube, but I don't feel the Wii got quite as many of those A-budget titles that they're listing for WiiU.

The best game they showed as Darksiders II.... and I won't even be playing that on Nintendo. I've never gotten into Pikmin, so I really can't say there. Also, the NSMB title just doesn't look new enough. It might as well be DLC for the previous game. If only it supported online with friends...

Overall, this was the worst conference. But only just by a little. Microsoft was really lame too.

Personally, the fact that Nintendo had Warner Bros. and Ubisoft there to present their own projects, and the fact they focused on the games first and foremost, gave me the impression that they were really bringing it.

Bring what, exactly? Their list of games isn't all that impressive thus far.

I mean, we all know there are some we can count on being there like Zelda and what not, but as far as what was shown during the conference...

*shrugs*

Compared to Microsoft's anyway. I never watched Sony's.

and who really needs Batman AC that doesn't already have it? and controlling the batarang with the Upad is stupid! I would rather just aim at what I want to hit. If I want to hit something around the corner and they couldn't let me tag it before throwing it, then they could just go to batarang batcam and let me use the analog sticks.
