...Well, probably not. But it still looks neat.

However, it's still not perfect.

Though it doesn't look as sluggish as Sonic 4, the first gameplay clip shows that Sonic comes out of a spin when he launches into the air still. Which makes me wonder if there's any other imperfections in the control. No idea if Classic Sonic can do the homing attack, yet (Modern Sonic can). If the only fault is the spin jump issue, though, would you guys be interested?

After Sega's blatant lies about Sonic 4, I'll never believe any footage, review, or claim that it'll be a good game. Sega doesn't get that faith anymore. Not about Sonic.

I've given up on non-2D Sonic titles completely anyways. But that's not saying I'm holding my breath for 2D titles either. I heard that Sonic Colors was alright, but for me to attempt to get back into 3D Sonic, it'll have to be much more than 'alright.'

I think, when it comes to Team Sonic, this guy got it right:

At 1:19-1:42

Extended version of the gameplay video:

I don't care what you guys say, this one actually looks fun.

^ Has been said about every single Sonic game the past ten years. Maybe not by you, but by someone. And they've all been wrong.

No, Sega doesn't get the benefit of the doubt. They blew it with:

Sonic Heroes
Sonic and the Secret Rings
Sonic and the Black Knight
Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)
Shadow the Hedgehog
Sonic Unleashed
Sonic the Hedgehog 4

What other franchise in the f*cking world gets as many chances as this one? How many times has Sega consistently f*cked up? It has been 17 YEARS since the last stellar Sonic game (Sonic 3&K). It's been 10 YEARS since the release of Sonic Adventure 2, which I consider to be the last "aight" Sonic game in existence (2001).

That means that ALL of those games live in a DECADE OF FAILURE. The last Sonic game I paid good money for was Secret Rings and I regretted it...ALL BECAUSE OF THE HYPE OF SONIC "GOING BACK TO HIS ROOTS". Sega ain't gonna f*ck me over ever again.

It's gotten so bad, that true Sonic fans have to make their OWN f*cking good Sonic games so they can play good ones. Like Lantis said, nobody tries to make actual Mario games. You know why? Because mainline Mario games, hell, MOST MARIO GAMES DO NOT SUCK DICK. Nintendo has been bring the awesome Mario since 1983 in 2D AND 3D. Every time a new Mario game is announced, I sh*t my pants because I know Nintendo is gonna bring their A game to their biggest mascot. Let's compare the mainline Mario games released since the last stellar Sonic game:

Super Mario 64
Super Mario Sunshine
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Mario Galaxy 2
New Super Mario Bros. Wii

That list is f*cking DYNAMITE. The one game that is the weak link is Super Mario Sunshine, but even that game was good and tough as f*ck. Every time I hear a new Sonic game, I'm wondering WHICH MEMORY OF WHAT WAS ONCE ONE OF MY CHILDHOOD HEROES ARE THEY GONNA RAPE AND ABUSE NEXT? How are they gonna f*ck it up this time?

The only way I'll spend a f*cking dime on any future Sonic game will be one that's f*cking developed by Nintendo Tokyo EAD (Galaxy team).

Um... there's Mario hack editors for Super Mario Bros. 1-3, Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island, Super Mario RPG, Super Mario 64, and New Super Mario Bros. Wii. And the Mario World hack community in particular is bustling with quite a bit of activity. Now, if we're not talking about hacks, then someone needs to provide to me an example of a true-blue non-hack homebrew Sonic game.

And you really didn't like Sonic and the Secret Rings? From what I heard, that one was probably the best effort at a Sonic game in between Adventure 2 and Sonic 4. Handheld incarnations notwithstanding.

Look at efforts like Sonic Fan Remix. This is not a hack. It's an attempt to recreate a Sonic game because Sega can't f*cking do it right. When your fan community is making a game not only because they think it would be something fun to do, but rather that it would be fun to do because Sega has no interest in making a good Sonic game, that's really f*cked up.

So it's the best effort between alright and trash. That's not a good thing to say.

Mario doesn't have this problem. No one has to wonder "Gee, I hope this next Mario game is good." We take it for GRANTED that Mario is going to be good. Nintendo doesn't rape Mario game after game after game. They don't raise your hopes with "Mario's going back to his roots" and then have a game where he starts grinding on pipes and jumps through the air with no momentum to a soundtrack of blaring, terrible rock music.

You don't like how he grinds on rails? I loved the stages that used those in SA2.

There were no rails in the classic games.

So? There wasn't any planet-hopping in the classic Mario games, either.
