Yeah, it just came up on us didn't it. Actually, it didn't even release today. It came out three days ago. And you want to know the reason why you didn't know? Because no one cares about it. The only reason anyone wants one (myself included) is just simply gadget lust.

Out of any system release, I've never seen such a numerous list of games... and all of which are just terrible. There are like one or two out of the twenty-ish games released that I would even consider, but no way in hell does it justify the cost of $250. Anyone could get a 360 or Wii for that much, and there are much better games for those. Here, take a gander at some of the release titles if you don't believe me:

Quote:
Three first party titles will be on shelves with the 3DS - Pilotwings Resort, Steel Diver and three variations of nintendogs + cats. Each of these titles will have a price tag of $39.99.

Third party software available on launch day will include: Super Street Fighter IV (Capcom), The Sims 3 (EA), Madden NFL Football (EA Sports), Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 3D (Konami), Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars (LucasArts), Ridge Racer 3D (Namco Bandai), Super Monkey Ball 3D (Sega), Bust-A-Move Universe (Square Enix), Samurai Warriors: Chronicles (Tecmo Koei), Asphalt 3D (Ubisoft), Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs 3D (Ubisoft), Rayman 3D (Ubisoft) and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Shadow Wars (Ubisoft).

I really find the three different copies of Nintendogs laughable. As if more than one was needed. Though I will eventually break down and get one. But the only thing I would do with one now is just play my old DS games on it. Hopefully something worth while will at least come out this year.

That aside, has anyone else got one? And if so, what are you're impressions? (I ask this with a lot of skepticism that anyone actually has one.)

I will get one eventually, but mostly for OoT and Star Fox. And I'll start pillaging older DS games.

I've been having a stressful few weeks. I needed to buy something stupid, unnecessary, and expensive to make myself feel better for a short period of time before I realized what an utterly idiotic idea it is to waste money on garbage I don't need.

So I got one on launch day.

I've not had much time to play with it (and I didn't buy any of the crummy launch titles). It's a lot heavier than you would think, and it feels more like an expensive, professional, gadget than a toy (unlike the other Nintendo hand-helds which feel light, and cheap).

It's shiny, cool looking. Lots of buttons and switches and lights. I think that when they come out with the second generation of 3Ds they will be refining the design considerably, and removing superfluous design elements. It really feels like they were trying to cram a lot of stuff in a limited space, so it's kind of jumbled and disorganized.

Basically, the design is more Microsoft than Apple. Or, more Sony than Nintendo (imo, it's like the early PSPs before all the refinements made in the later generations).

It looks pretty neat though, and I really love the idea of the augmented reality games. The AR cards that come with the system are kind of fun, provided you have good lighting where you're playing. In short, I was impressed by that part of the technology.

It does take some adjustment to get used to the 3D effect, and you have to hold the console just the right distance at just the right angle for it to work well. Advice: Don't play near a computer monitor or under florescent lights, or there will be bad screen flickering.

Right now, I do think it's a waste of money - there aren't any good games for it. It's just a high-tech extravagance.

I really look forward to some good games, though. I think they could do some innovative things with it, if the developers actually tried to think out of the box.

I can just imagine that there will soon be a whole slew of those perverted Japanese games where the players poke, touch, and rub, scantily-clad school girls with overly large breasts - now in full 3D. Likewise, I can imagine the bust sizes of female heroines in regular games getting larger to take advantage of the 3D effect.

I knew about it, just didn't want to get flamed by Lantis for posting about it. I don't have the money to get one yet, but when I do I'll surely buy it.

Yeah, there aren't any good games out yet, but the Devil Survivor game comes out in a month or so and that will be great.

I honestly haven't been paying attention. The other day I saw a couple 3DS games on shelf and I was like "it's that time, already?"

Maybe once the new Mario games comes out for it, I'll consider getting one.
