It's been so long since I've played Ocarina, that dungeon in the video only seems kinda recognizeable.

I wonder if this version will finally be un-censored.

Looks like they really improved the graphics a lot. Guess it's not going to be a straight port - wonder if they'll add in extra stuff? I liked the revisions that were made to OoT: Master Quest.

I just read at IGN that to aim things like your slingshot/bow/hoockshot in first person, you actually have to move the DS around in relative space. If you want to turn 180º in the game, you have to actually turn around IRL. I think that's a pretty horrible idea. I hope you can change it back to analog control... because if you can't, I'll be popping out of first person, turning Link a little bit, and pop back into first person, and repeat until I have my aim right. That'll be really dumb.

...Maybe I'll just re-buy my copy on the N64. I doubt it'll feel nearly as epic on a handheld, anyway.

I get dizzy just thinking about it. I can imagine spinning around in my chair trying to block the Gerudo Guards' attacks and throwing up all over my shiny new 3DS.

I play it with my comp in an emulator on my HD TV - Ocarina of Time in 1080p is pretty epic.

Emulators are only good for playing hacks and imports.

I presume you're being sarcastic? :P

Most of these games run better in the emulator than on the original hardware. They look a heck of a lot better too - anti-aliasing, higher resolution, texture filtering, you name it.

I've yet to find a game that runs better on emulation.

I can't speak to your experiences, but every game I've ever played on an emulator runs better for me (except for relatively recent titles i.e. PS2 games).

I won't ever play another gameboy, GBA, PS, SNES, or N64 game on the original hardware.

Try Mario RPG. Watch the whole intro and see if the music de-syncs. Then play the first ten minutes and tell me if any sound effects are off. And if everything works perfectly, send me a PM telling me how you got it to work right, 'cause I really wanna play Mario RPG Revolution. :P

Oh, and uh, I guess to stay on topic, I wonder if they're upgrading the music, too.

I'll check it out and let you know. Some times it takes a lot of tweaking to get things to work properly, and other times a game will only work right if you just happen to have a certain graphics card.

Since I usually play games with the sound muted, I never typically notice audio glitches myself. It's the graphical glitches that irk me, but often a settings change can improve that.

Even though I usually don't play with sound on, it would be nice if they updated the music. That was one of the things that really made the game, imo.

But I'd still much rather have expanded/updated dungeons like in Master Quest than updated music, if it came down to a choice.

Yeah, but you know they won't actually do that. The original was already packed with 11 dungeons. 12 if you count each visit to the desert colossus as its own dungeon, and 13 if you count escaping from the Gerudo Fortress. Where would they fit another dungeon? And I think that even if they did find a way to fit another dungeon, they'd probably botch it somehow, either making it require touch controls or making it feel like it belongs in a different Zelda game.

Actually, I think Dray has a point about adding anything to it. It's a classic and there's really nothing to improve on. Anything else will feel very tacked on and probably be rather out of place.

Anyways, here's that article I was talking about. I re-read it, and it does look like you can us analog controls for aiming in first person. I'm genuinely surprised. I mean, all the other Wii titles were taking the waggle out would be the difference of night and day... in the good way (the most recent example being Donkey Kong Country Returns).

Quote:
Zelda was the chief attraction at the Nintendo World 2011 3DS demo event in Japan, which opened its doors for three days of early 3DS demo play on Saturday. The game drew lines of up to 110 minutes even as most other games made players wait just 20 to 30 minutes.

That's kinda sad.

Come to think of it, has a new Mario been announced yet? Oh gosh, I hope it's not a port of Mario Sunshine.

What's sad? The fact that people waited almost two hours to play a game they've already beaten several years ago? Or the fact that there's such a poor number of launch titles that a port takes the spotlight over everything else...

And there was nothing wrong with Mario Sunshine. >____>

That might be so, but they did do OoT Master Quest, in which all the dungeons where redesigned to be more fun, challenging, and visually interesting - way better than the vanilla game imo.

When they re-released Link's Awakening for the GameBoy Color, they added on an extra color-based dungeon too.

So it's not like adding on extra stuff to a re-released Zelda game is unprecedented.

Releasing it yet another time but in 3D and hand-held is just a money-making gimmick anyway, so why not go all the way and add stuff? I already own the game for the N64 & Gamecube. I'm not going to buy the same old thing again just 'cause it has a fresh coat of paint (even if it is a classic). Granted, other people will, but it seems silly to me.

Speaking of Link's Awakening DX, some people were speculating that there would be a new dungeon focusing on the 3D aspect, similar to how the Link's Awakening remake had a dungeon focusing on the introduction of color. But because the 3D aspect is something that can be turned off, that was pretty much dismissed.

Yeah, I think that would be cool. I just want something new, though.

If I'm going to justify the cost of buying the 3ds and this re-release, I want some new content.

With all they can pack into those DS cartridges, I want a release that has both OoT & MM with expanded & updated content for both. Or some kind of Zelda collection. Something to make it worth it; not just another port with updated graphics.

Don't hold your breath. It won't happen. And if it does, I'll eat my non-existent hat.
