I fully expect most opinions here to be along the lines of "wee-faeg" but I am curious what your opinions really are.

I just got the 250GB XBox 360s Kinect bundle and have played K. Adventures for all of one level. First impressions are that the thing is pretty darned accurate. Voice Recognition is really accurate, without going through any training either. I wish Netflix supported Kinect as my household is ALWAYS using Netflix.

The sensor's range could be longer. The nearest edge of my couch is 12' from the screen and when sitting, that places your hands at over 12' away. The sensor works okay from 11' but 6'-10' is the apparent sweet spot. So to use the hand gestures for apps and the dash from the couch, I have to lean in or sit on the edge of the couch. Not horrible but annoying. What saves this from pissing me off is the voice commands. I just say "Xbox" to get its attention and then stuff like, "play game" or something.

The misses thought this was a waste of money and we wouldn't use it. That was true for two weeks. Then I went out and bought Dance Central and Your Shape Fitness: Evolved. She became curious.

We started out playing Kinect Adventures. We bumped a few elbows but we had a blast. We don't get too many opportunities to play together but we couldn't stop. Lots of fun! We were making fun of the Wii players that injure themselves while playing and not five minutes later, while frantically jumping to win a race, she slipped and fell right on her butt! She was fine and laughed it off. I finished the race and then helped her up. (Yes that's right I won THEN helped her. She insisted) Living statues are great.

Then we tried out Dance Central. We are both a bit shy about looking foolish dancing so we didn't play too long. The game was fun, intuitive and the freestyle pictures are epic! It's so hilarious to see them play back fast forward.

She did some Your Shape gym games but didn't like that you have to input your weight. We actually don't own a scale so we had to guess. I don't think she found it that interesting and is eying Zumba Fitness. I find it quite enjoyable. The game has some minor flaws and (so far) seems to focus heavily on legs. My legs were shaking after a while and I had to take a break to post here. Your Shape seems to be effective so far. I'm tired, became slightly winded, and I will likely be feeling it in the morning if I go back in there tonight.

I wish all games and the Kinect Hub had full speech control. I find myself wanting to just use that more than the hold your hand still to verify thing.

Uplay (Ubisoft's deal for it's games) has horrid Kinect controls. It has these orbs representing hand placement that are very inaccurate and fly around the screen messing with things even when I am standing still. No issues with any other games so I feel it is Uplay's fault. Step out of the range and just use the controller here.

All in all I am very pleased with my new S model console and loving Kinect. I am really looking forward to future updates and XBLA and Indie games that support it.

I'm glad someone from our neck of the woods have this a look-see. I don't see myself ever getting this seeing as Wii has taught me to loathe anything that involves moving anything more than your thumbs and index fingers (I just re-read that now, and I do realize how lazy that makes me sound). That being said, I won't be able to voice my opinions on something I don't own. I've seen some videos though of a lot of gameplay and heard that Dance Central is pretty responsive to input. So props for that.

Also, because I think this looks awesome, this is what your room looks like with night vision goggles with Kinect running:
