Alright all you PS3 and PSP owners. This is a great day. We now have Arc the Lad I and II and Arena on PSN.

I played these way back in the day on PS1 many times. Never beat the third and I don't know if it will be on its way to PSN any time soon but if it does, that will be the time I finally do. I made my own eboots of the entire Arc the Lad Collection a while back so I won't be purchasing these, but if you are a fan of the early series or of old school RPGing, this is it.

The first game is a tactical rpg that takes place on a menu based map in a strict narrative. There are a couple optional characters and one optional dungeon but aside from that it is very linear and still manages to be loads of fun.

The second game is a leap ahead as far as gameplay goes. You can migrate your saved characters from the first game to the second. There are also monsters to capture that then are battle party members. On top of that, you can then load your save in the Arena game and train there, as well as battle it out multiplayer, trade monsters and items, and shop. Then you save your game in the Arena and switch back to playing Arc II and now you have all your new traded items/characters in your main game!

It is a bit of a shame that the Arena isn't included in Arc II but you can purchase it for four dollars or get both Arc II and Arena bundled for a discounted price.

Awesome. I like that series. In fact, I'm currently playing the Arc The Lad collection. :D
