Not a port, but a full re-make.

My opinion? I just regretful this wasn't able to make it on a more powerful console. And I'm also very skeptical about the "latest technology" that Nintendo has to offer (A.K.A. waggle physics). Goldeneye definitely doesn't need any of that.

From what I've heard, it either comes with a Klobb Wii-gun, or a Golden Gun one.

That doesn't make the actual game any better though. It's like a paint job for a car... doesn't make the car run any faster.

Speed Stripes have been proven to speed up a car.

and on topic, I'm with Lantis on this. It could have been a better remake on PSN or XBLA than a full Wii retail release. Take a look at Blacklight on XBLA. The teaser vids show it, so far, to look just as good as a full retail of the 360. I think that's where the remake should have hit.

I was just saying that it's supposed to come with a wii-zapper shaped like an in game gun...

...Graphics whore.

I haven't read the article, so I don't know if they mention any stupid waggle physics, but I'm assuming the majority will simply be aiming the remote at the screen to shoot enemies. Which is pretty welcome, especially during a certain laser-watch-usage level that a certain LPer had trouble with.

It has nothing to do with graphics. Have you seen Galaxy 2? The Wii can do visually awesome things. I mean in the sense that if left to the devices of Sony or Microsoft, gameplay and online support would have been vastly improved. Online multiplayer with room set up for friends (with PSN and XBLA's actually functional friend system), leaderboards, achievements/trophies.... and I don't know about you guys, but I generally prefer any controller over the wiimote.

And for the record, the problem I had with the laser in the train was because I couldn't use a controller and had the analog stick mapped to arrow keys. And when an arrow press equals full pressure in any direction, it's going to be a bit difficult to control.

At least the people making it are smart enough to allow 4 player split screen (Just like the original, which was the best part of the game, and is what I'm looking forward to the most in this remake), unlike many PS3 and Xbox games where you're lucky if you're allowed to play 2 player on the same screen.

Go grab Perfect Dark for 10 bucks on XBLA. It has four player local, isn't on disc, is much much cheaper, and ultimately a better game than Goldeneye anyways.

Well then that doesn't have so much to do with "power" so much as it has to do with business practices. And I agree, Nintendo's business practice sucks.

If they could fix their online and get a better control scheme (or even simply allow to use the classic controller or gamecube) then I wouldn't have any problems. But as it stands...

I had forgotten all about this.

http://www.goldeneyegame.com/

It's apparently out, now. Think I should get it?

Oh, and for the record, some copies come with a gold classic controller, not a gun. Which makes me wonder whether waggle controls are really required.

The controller that comes with the game costs exactly the same if you were to buy the controller out-right. The only difference is that this one is gold (I'd just buy one online for cheaper). I actually played the game with said controller as a buddy of mine lent it to me... and I beat the game in a day. The game plays much more closer to modern day shooters, which isn't my bag. They tried to make it more realistic in same cases that just don't make it work. Like you can only carry 3 guns on you at one time and one of them HAS to be the PP7 as opposed to to the originals limitless magic satchel of guns you can hold. But on the extreme opposite of the spectrum, Bond now has Wolverine's healing factor and can regenerate his health all mutant style now. Erm, so yeah... disregard that whole 'more realistic' statement.

The game is fairly short, but at least with the controller I used there was no waggle, which is an absolute plus looking at all the past games Nintendo's been putting out. But one complaint I really have is that with Craig as bond instead of Brosnan as Bond, it felt a bit out of place. I can see that not being a very big deal to some people, but it didn't settle well with me. And made it feel less like Goldeneye. They even took out a few characters... including my favorite Boris Grishenko. But on the plus side, it follows the movie much closer than the 64 version of the game. And if anyone remembers the Goldeneye 64 well enough, you'd know how frustrating the 'protect Natalia' sections were. And you'll be glad to hear that you only have to do this ONCE the entire game, and it's right at the beginning of a level to boot.

So overall, the good outweighs the bad I suppose. I, personally, don't think it was all the hype that was built around it... hype that was unavoidable due to it's predecessor, but what can you do? I never tried the multiplayer or online, so if that adds or takes away merit, I have no idea.
