I'm getting FFXIII today. I've had it pre-ordered for two years, and it's out for delivery right now.

Will I get to play it today? Maybe.... probably not.... I have school work to do.

Once I do get started, I'll post my opinions - which I'm sure you'll all be waiting for. >_>

I picked it up at midnight. My PS3 actually stayed working(It has a major hard drive problem) long enough to put about 2 hours in last night. Obvioulsy the graphics are top notch. Probably the best I have ever seen. The combat system is interesting. It will take some getting used to, but I think it has a lot of potential from what I've played.

That's really all I can say right now, atleast until I put some more time in with it. Hopefully I can get my PS3 to start up again without deleting my save file.

Well, I WAS going to pick this up today... but my fiancee beat me to it. And now she's going want to play it first because she spent the money on it.

Goodbye PS3 for a few good weeks.

Multi-disk games, even in this generation? It was surprising enough to find any last generation.

Well, we're at least not hitting the massive four-disk games of the PS1 era.

Blue Dragon was 4 discs... and it came out only 3 years ago for the 360. And it would have been only 1 if it were Blu-ray.

actually, I told you before, Lost Odyssey for XBox 360 is 4 discs.

Oh yeah. What's the deal? Can't game consoles get away from FMVs, yet? They're pretty much powerful enough to render anything created in PS1-era FMVs at this point.

Actually I've only seen like 3 or 4 FMVs in FFXII so far, and I'm on the last disc. The cutscenes are mostly made with standard graphics.

Well, regular PS1 CDs are 700mb. Xbox 360 DVDs are around 7 gigs I want to say. Blu-ray, however, can go up to 200 gigs in size. You won't have to worry about multi-disc games on a PS3 for quite some time, methinks.

Anyway, I haven't played in a few days. I'm still at the very beginning of the Gran Pulse chapter, so the fact hat you can't fight one of the monsters you see in the opening cutscene saddens me... If you've seen the cutscene you probably know what monster I mean.

Are you sure? In this generation, it can be hard to tell, sometimes.

You do realize what take up the most data these days aren't the FMVs, but the actual maps.

Yeah, but usually the actual maps have to be available throughout the game, while FMVs don't.
