Alan Wake is releasing on May 18, 2010, with a special edition coming out May 25.

I've always been slightly interested in this game. And I've heard it's rather Resident Evil-y... but it seems to be kind of a mix between old school RE and new RE. It keeps the more horror side of the old school stuff while looking like it has a more active battle system like the newer RE.

I'm all for this game.

I don't feel good about this game. The environments do look very impressive but there is something about these new RE type games where the movement of the character constantly remind you that you are controlling an avatar instead of kind of feeling like you are slipping into the world. If you look at the second video at 1:30 you see what is an awesome looking collapsing bridge or something but his movements seem to ruin the immersivity. Maybe it is the running per se. I've only seen one current gen game where the third person running was believable and that was "The Club". At any rate, one might think this game has the pace and style of old school survival horror (like Silent Hill) but it comes right out and says it is a "psychological action thriller" which suggest it may be more like the recent survival horror like "Alone in the Dark". At least the is the game it reminds me of the most. The action doesn't seem very scary to me but the environments do. I just hope as an action thriller you don't spend your whole timer running past the environments. At any rate I just hope the story is decent. To me the premise seems kind of cliche and the main character looks kinda weak. I want to like this game, but I am probably too much of a survival horror purist to pick this one up. We'll see how the reviews are.
