Was nobody aware that it's out, now?

My friend bought it day one. And he hates me thanks to our last play session. It was going mostly smoothly until the last castle in world 1, where I charged through the level and he kept dying.

Heh, the PA comic about this game is amusing.

I find the multiplayer pretty interesting, I might try it out if I ever turn on my Wii.

I knew it was out, but I didn't really have a pressing reason to get it, since it isn't online.

One of the best games to showcase online, and Nintendo brings nothing. Not that I won't get this eventually, but I'm not in a hurry since I can't play with anyone else.

I honestly see no reason why online functionality for an old-school Mario platformer was a must.

If it is a multiplayer game, in this generation, online is a must.
I hope that helps clear things up.

I'm aware of it's release. I'm also broke. :(
I know of a few people IRL I might get interested in playing it with me (And I call the Blue Toad!)

I'd actually like to get it now. I'll wait a bit, though.

This is clearly a game that wants you to play with your friends, though. Unfortunately, Nintendo decided that the Wii wasn't powerful enough to supply the needed online element. I don't have the luxury of gathering up my friends to play. Even if we were in the same neighborhood, it would take logistics solving and all that.

On Live, I say I wanna play with my friends in other states, and badda-bing, it's done. Nintendo made their online system overly complicated and under-supported.

Eh, to each his own. I myself probably wouldn't have taken advantage of online play. Mario platformers have traditionally been one-player affairs (or two-player alternatively affairs), and that's how I'll look at them for a long time. In fat, the simultaneous multi-player in this kinda irks me, on account the frustration I can see coming from players lagging behind and needing to try staying in the same screen. So I'm likely to just play alone. And I'm going to be rather peeved if I can't complete the game or reach secret areas because I need a second player, third, or fourth player.

Oh, and what the heck? You mean the Toads weren't placeholder characters? Lame.

It's 2009. If they are going to have multiplayer at all... it should have been online. If not, it should have been just 1 player from the start. And I don't want to hear that they couldn't DO online. NSMBW is a 2D platformer and you are telling me it CAN'T do online when Mario Kart Wii was fully rendered in 3D and supported 16 PLAYERS AT ONE TIME. There really is just no excuse.

Seriously, the likelyhood that everyone has 4 friends who all have the free time to come over and play this game with you isn't all that great. If we were all in highschool... maybe. But all my co-op gaming is now done online just like everyone else. It's just how it is.

As for the players, they should have replaced one of the toads with the original red toad and the other with peach. Then it would be a rather nice throwback to Super Mario Bros 2.

I don't care about online play that much, but I can't see why there's no online option.
I like the idea of a playable Toad. Not sure if there's a reason for 2 of them. Maybe they'd be like the Toad bros and the Mario bros?
I just hope I don't have to be Mario if I play by myself. I want one of the little fellows.

I have not yet achieved all of the power-ups, because I'm only at world 2, but I really like the propeller and the ice flower.

Ixzion actually got a little steamed because he conceived the idea of the ice flower back in the early 90's. Shouldn't he get his props? :)

I'm in it for the penguin suit. I've been missing the costumes since Super Mario World, and I'm glad they've brought them back for games like this and the Galaxy series.

I know it's not the same, but, weren't the ice flower appeared on Mario & Luigi: back in time? (or whatever it's name is)
I could google it to refresh my memory but...

Can't remember, but the Ice Flower was a power-up in Super Mario Galaxy.
