Just bought this. Pretty excited about it. I will let you know how it goes.

Great option for those who don't want to upgrade their hard drives. That and the memory units from MS are WAY too small (the largest being 512MB)

I will definately be looking into this. Let me know how it works out for you. I got a 60 gig and really like to install everything to my hard drive but that is starting to take its toll on my little 60 gig. I just find it strange that it's removable. It almost makes me think there would be some kind of error if you stored say, a few games on one of these things, then took it out and booted the 360 back up. Would the console still expect to see it? And if so, would it freak out with it no there? Or what if it got ripped out of the slot while mid-game?

Either way, I'm still quite interested.

It would act as it would if you removed an official mem unit mid game. Freeze the screen and pop up a message box saying you need to reinsert the mem unit. Probably lose progress as well. But this isn't a total substitute to the hard drive. You won't be able to play Original Xbox Games off the Marketplace, according to a couple reviews I read online. And as far as having things on it and then removing the device prior to boot, nothing would happen at all. You just won't see the content as though you never dl'd it. Unless the NXE is on it. I haven't tried removing my hdd since the update. I wonder if it would revert to the old Blade-Based Dashboard?

This is the first time a mem unit will have the space necessary to install a retail game on to it, so who knows? I will let you all know how it goes. I just hope that, since MS can read the total and available space on memory devices, that they won't go all jerk on us and say, "that's more mem than we offer. Must be 3rd party; BAN!" I really doubt it would happen and feel fine using it.

Those of you with first gen 360's might look into this as a way to back up your data before it RRoDs you. And if it does and you get a new system, the fact that you can read the data on a PC using a MicroSD adapter (one is included) then you can also change the ownership and still access your content on the new system. Especially useful if you already used the ownership rights transfer on xbox.com as you can only use that tool once every 365 days.

There are other options as far as backing up stuff goes. There's the Xport and a similar but more resourceful device I forgot the name of on codejunkies website along with this device. I just need a bigger Mem Unit as my 512MB is getting pretty full with just game saves, my gf's and my profiles (over 12MB each profile) and the occasional song pack or two for Rock Band.
