"Your Amazon.com order has shipped."

Wait, what?

Yeah, pre-ordered it a while back. Turns out it's releasing now. Forgot all about it. And here I am, still in the middle of Final Fantasy IV DS. Guess this means I'll have to finish it soon.

I have been waiting for this game since it was promised to port to PS1 in USA around 7 years ago.

I saw Insultobot somewhere in that video. >___>

Ah well, you people enjoy. It seems that there hasn't been a re-made game on the DS yet that wasn't at the lest pretty freaking good, so I'm sure this is no different. I've just never been able to tollerate the Quest/Warrior series.

True, I'll probably go through this game yawning throughout all the level grinding and gold hoarding. And yet, the Dragon Quest games are the only ones where I'll really tolerate that.

...the camera adds ten pounds. There were 15 cameras.

Also, like Dray, this series does have its points that I can play and enjoy the grinding. Don't ask me what they are or why but there's something there I like.

This one isn't a "Day 1" for me but it is a definite buy.

Finished the first chapter. About 1.5 hours in so far. My comments as follows:

Special effects are neat. Especially enemy animations in battle. I dare say they're even better than what was seen in Dragon Quest 7.

Can't comment on level-grinding, 'cause I haven't done any. Rather than spend hours around towns getting money for new stuff, I just bought what I could and moved on. It didn't really make things that much more difficult, and getting to those dungeons with gold-hoarding monsters resulted in me being able to afford earlier equipment faster. I should play other level-grinders like this more often. Makes things so much more enjoyable.

Music sounds mostly good. Probably along the same level as Dragon Quest 7's. But the title music is there in its fully orchestrated glory. They added a new boss battle theme, which is nice considering bosses had no special themes in the original game.

The game has a new prologue. It doesn't seem like it should be there. Yes, a negative. Already it reveals something that we wasn't supposed to know until the end of the first chapter, and at the same time, nothing really happens in it. You just play as the hero, who, after finishing a day's training, goes home and eats supper. You can't even leave the town.

Back to positives. Exploring towers is less frustrating, now. The game map covers both screens, the top screen showing furthur in the distance, and you can rotate the camera around, allowing a nice view of the surrounding paths and dead ends. You can't rotate the camera in caves, mind you, but cave exploration didn't really need the ability as much as tower exploration.

Aside from the prologue, the story has basically been left intact. They added accents to the people in the first chapter (couldn't they all speak the same?), but otherwise they all say the same thing and do the same thing. Except for the old man in the first town. He doesn't make a failed attempt to follow you on the quest.
