Last week, I purchased a used copy of New Super Mario Bros. for 30 bucks, and it was only 5 dollars more for a brand new copy. I don't really understand, people. If a game has been out as long as NSMB, which is a month shy of two years, why don't these retail stores ever drop the price? Are they expecting the consumer to still buy the game at the price it was when it first came out, when there are discount sites which offer the game for cheaper? Tell me, people. Tell me.

demand is the highest denominator. as long as people will pay the high price then they will sell it at that price. if they dropped lower then people would buy them up and sell them higher online since the demand is there. eb games seems to be the only exception to this rule, buying older games as a very cheap price and selling it at the same price which prompts people to snatch them up and resell them.

I have long time refused to buy Super Smash Brothers Melee for GC until I saw it new for $20. Even though it was a "greatest hits" (or whatever it is called) game, it still sold for $30.

I will never buy it now, but I doubt any store believes they made a mistake.

Supply and demand.
