Which reminds me, 1ce, you asked me in the chat the other day if I heard of Wonder Project J2, but disappeared before I could answer. Yes, I have heard of it.

Anyway, import games I own:
RPG Tsukuru XP
Final Fantasy 1 and Final Fantasy 2, each on WonderSwan Color.

Can you play any import games for any console on a standard console or do you have to modify it or import the console as well?

Obviously, I own none (I think).

Modify the console or import it.

However, that is not and I don't think ever has been the case for handheld systems.

Or you can use enabler discs like I do for PS1 and PS2. With the SNES all you have to do is snap off a piece of plastic in the cart slot.

The newer systems almost all require you to physically open the system and modify it and also flash the bios. Which usually is done with illegally obtained software.
Except for the PSP which is entirely a softmod (other than the battery) and perfectly legal.

If you think you are breaking the law to play an import than you probably are. So it is safer to just import the system as well. Although you have to be careful about the NTSC and PAL formats....

I may be adding RPGT4 to my import list so long as we decide how it can be used to show agetec we want it. But that's talk for another topic.

Yeah, Dray is right. Handhelds have never been region locked, which is the reason why Mother 3 is the only import game I own.

Speaking of enabler discs, insult, any recommendations? I don't wanna get one brand only to find it doesn't work half the time.

For PS1 games, I use Breaker Pro. It comes with a spring to make the PS1 think it is still closed so you can switch discs. And for the PSONE, it comes with a paper tab that you can make by folding paper a couple times. If you are using it on the PS2, depending on your model, you will also need additional tools described below for the PS2 boot disc.

I don't know if that's a trust worthy store, its just the first google result.

For PS2 definitely get Swap Magic 3.6. There is a DVD and a CD for PS2 games. It even has gameshark capabilities if you upgrade for like 10 bucks more. If you have the old PS2, you will need to either replace the portion of the case that the disc goes in with a flip top, or remove the bezel of the tray and use a slide card. If you have a slim, things get trickier, but doable. There are two versions of the slim. With the older one, you place 2-3 plastic tabs under the disc lid and 1 probe in the hinge. With the newer version, you still place the plastic tabs all the same but now the probe has been twisted and must be patiently guided through a tiny hole near the hinge. I had the newer slim and it took me around 20min just to get the probe in place.

Again, I don't know this store, the one I purchased both of these from went out of business a year ago.

Both of these also allow for backed up games which I use for all my games to extend the discs lives.

For the most part imports won't work on systems: many are region locked (either physically or through coding). There are numerous chips or mods you can use to play such games.

Except with the handheld systems. They aren't region locked (thanks Nintendo) so any game will work on any system there.

On the Super NES and N64, there are tabs that keep the import system from working. As insult said, breaking these tabs will allow you to play the game. Same with N64, but I had to open the system to break the tabs.

And on my ps1, I use a goldfinger+. It's a chip that attaches to the back of the system.

I'm not a huge fan of mod chips so I prefer not to go that route. But that's also a viable option.

So I'm trying to import a PS1 game but have the first model PS2. That first link provide everything I need to play PS1 imports, and I won't need to take apart my PS2 to do so (which is important for me)? *rereads* No, I guess not. I'm a little confused, but I'll have to figure out what you're saying after lunch.

For the original PS2 and PS1 imports, use the breaker pro, and a slide card. http://www.modchipstore.com/PS2-Slide-C ... 16177.html

You won't have to take apart your system at all. Just open the tray and remove the bezel. Here's a tutorial for Swap Magic 3.6 but the process is identical for Breaker Pro. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rS8fYfLE ... re=related
Oh, and you don't need that new face he put on it in the vid, but it is nice.

Ps2:
Hokuto no ken
Guilty Gear Accent Core
Dream mix TV

I got so many Jap titles that I can't even remember their actual names. Swap magic is the best thing since console mods.
