And just like the guy said...The game is set in Africa....Who do you think zombies are going to be? Is capcom going to import a bunch of white guys to be zombies? No it'll be the local populace. No one freaked about killing Spaniards, so no one should freak over this.

I like the video but maybe some people just don't like racism satire anymore than others like religious satire. Don't they have the right to flag it if they are personally offeneded? Are you saying that your temperment or perspective is THE temperment or perspective for being offended?

EDIT: Please allow me to rephrase to be less attacking. What is the criteria for flagging on Youtube? I would doubt that there is a consensus that the motivation to tag must be rational (i.e. that the reasoning is subject to debate as to whether or not a video , "will cause damage", "holds no value whatsoever", etc. So when you say that they are douchebags or dumbasses for the reasons you say they must have flagged it, I am assuming that you are ignoring the simple emotional response "I don't like it and think it is unnecessary". I don't share this feeling, but some might, and from that perspective, are they not acting consistent with Youtube's flagging policy?

Honestly, I think you are right. What you think should be flagged, is just that. What you think should be flagged. No one has set limitations to what can or can not be flagged.

But to get more specific, Resident Evil 0 through Code Veronica... all the enemies and antagonists have always been generalized as caucasion. No one made a fuss. Resident Evil 4 was blatenly the hispanic community. Race hasn't been brought up ever until the E3 trailer for Resident Evil 5. But to be fair, I kind of thought there WAS going to be some mention of racism in 4.

This video was made to exagerate what people were making a fuss over. And while it is humorous, I might find the video offensive... not the game its self.

Meh, I fully believe they have the right to flag it if they find it offensive. Just like I have the right to call them stupid for finding it offensive.

Being offended is a waste of energy. It's not likely to help you, and even if something changes in the long run you still have to live with the slight you suffered.

And besides, why not get offended at something a little more meaningful. Like killing cats. Or famine. Or war. Something.

Except for RE4, you weren't killing a whole community of a type of people.

Not sure RE4 looks that ethnic, certainly not latino (latin american as opposed to the hispanic country of spain in europe).

Some people get offended for emotional reasons, other for improper logical conclusions, so there is a limit to how much one 'decides' to be offended. Even if the can control it ONCE they recognize their control over it.

I mean, sure everyone has a right to their opinion, but that's just stupid. I understand black people have been horribly mistreated and discriminated in history, but this has nothing to do with that.

I don't want to offend anyone, but I think sometimes some black people, or ethnic group for that matter, play up things like this just so they can have a pity party. Anyway, just my 2 cents.

lol, I'm not sure SK... did you watch the video? In one scene there were about 5 times the number of zombies than there was ginatos in RE 4. And quite a few of them were throwing sickles and hatches. (in the video it was right around the time someone said, "Ow. My leg... damnit".)

That kind of does happen. Resident Evil 3 you played as Jill most the time and there were prodominat male zombies. In lesser occasions, you fought female zombies as Chris, Leon, Carlos, ect...

But I think for the most part, you hvae a point. Maybe if the protagonist of RE 5 was black... but to my knowledge, the only black STARS members didn't make it past RE 0-1.

I really think only RE4 is a fair comparison to 5 in that the enemies didn't look like zombies. In the other games they look so much like zombies, that no one really sympathizes with them. Even the developers were saying that was a reason they made 4 look more naturally human, so that it would be more of a challenge on the gamer to pull the trigger.

That's true. In fact, they weren't even considered "zombies" in 4... but ganados, which translates to "cattle" in spanish. They still had coherive speak, if you can understand spanish, and didn't have the primal instinct of "the need to feed" as much as someone following orders. They did as Lord Sadalar commanded, so it seems.

But seeing as Umbrella is no longer present, it's not really a viral outbreak anymore. Kind of makes me wonder what they'll use in 5.

... I think you may be on to something, Bo. I did feel a little guilty blowing off the heads of Ganados, especially when they were already lying on the ground in no position to attack you. ... With zombies, I guess it didn't really matter to me because they were already dead whether I shot them or not; it's not as if you can really do any more damage to them. ^_^

I think the answer to your question is moot. I don't think it was a matter of ethnics that determined who lived or died in any of the titles.

But personally, I didn't have an issue shooting them when they are down... specially after their those Las Plagas started bursting out of their open neck holes. I always hated it when they lumbered towards you with no head only to have one of those jokers pop out at close range.

Same topic at the forum I go to. Its not racist, if you look at the other resident evil games it mostly had white people. What I find racist is being called or labeled as an african american.

Totally. But what people can use for a loop-hole here is that when you were shooting white people... you played as a white person. I childish observation, yes... but if someone was hell bent in proving the game racist, it would be brought up.

And in all honesty, there's not going to be much of anything you could do if someone's opinion of the game is as such... reguardless of what race they are. It just seems that when someone's set their mind on something involving racism, it's pretty much set in stone. At least, that's how it comes off to me.
