First off, I have .hack, part 4. Got it for five bucks. But should I stick with it, or get a different game in a trade? I'm looking at getting Jade Cocoon 2. So, get the .hack series or one addictive looking game.

anyone play either of these games and have opinions?

And more games to rate, please:

Romancing Saga
Xenosaga-(I have the first one, is it worth going through the rest?)
Tsunamgi-(something like that. Atlus)
Suikoden Tactis
Grandia or Drakengard, any of them.

i have the whole .hack series. the problem with all 4 .hack games is that they are pretty similar. the only diffrence could be the monsters and that theres nothing amazingly new to bring in each game. so if you just want to know the whole story than go ahead and buy all of them. or just wait for .hack g.u. coming out soon

You didn't start with Part 4, did you? I mean, just the fact that part of the title reads "Part 4" should be a pretty good indication that it's a direct continuation of the previous games.

I have Grandia 1, 2, 3.And they are all interesting, heck if you wanna ask about the RPG above ask me anything, since i've aced all of them.Oh, and the Xenosaga is worth continuing. But i suggest understanding the 1th episode first of all if you wanna play the rest.

Suikoden Tactics is fairly good for a strategy RPG. I'd have liked it more had it not been based on Suikoden IV's storyline, though it does flesh out that story some more and tie up some loose ends. You actually have to pay attention in battle... Especially the elemental affinities of your characters and the enemies, and the colored elemental squares on the battlefield, which you can manipulate, hopefully to your advantage. For example, someone strong in fire standing on a water space takes damage each round, and attacks/defends poorly. Also, the enemies are pretty close to your characters in strength. Don't get surrounded, it can be deadly. Non-Main story characters can die permanently. It really gets you thinking, which is good for this type of game.

I didn't care too much for the .hack series. Not the story wasn't any good, mainly, the battle system. Having to move the camera AND my character to fight made it rather frustrating at times. A few too many cheap deaths ended my interest in that series.

Romancing saga seemed to be ok but something about it to me didn't "seem right" and I lost interest in it quickly.

Haven't tried the Grandia or Xenosaga series. I might try one of the Grandia games eventually.

Well, rather than make a new post, I'll tell you all what I got.

.hack, Part 1
Grandia III
Romancing SaGa
Dragon Quest 8

and....Indigo Prohecy. I was always interested in it.

So, I'm happy now. I skipped out on Jade Cocoon 2 and Suikoden. Anything less than FFt would bore me.

I, too, have played the entire .Hack series... It's worth the go. My room mate had all of them so I borrow and played. Yes, everything seemed rather similar... but it was still an awsome game. It had a great storyline that really give it the MMORPG feel - without having to sell your soul!

"Without having to sell your soul?" Yes, definitely. And that is precisely what makes the dot.HACK series awesome. As to 1ce's wanting an opinion on other games, I hope this one helps about Xenosaga =>
The first installment was pretty good and all, but if you aren't all that interested in finding out what happens next in the storyline, Episode II may not be worth the time. The cut scenes are still as impressive as ever, and the plot still keeps one intrigued (as well as trying to guess who is on what side), but in terms of fighting, music, not to mention Shion's new bimbo-style get-up, Episode II sort of pales in comparison to Episode I. I mean, whoever heard of such a ridiculous battle system (with the possible exception of Thousand Arms' one-on-one fighting)? Just ask Lantis; he actually went all the way through Episode II.

(And for anyone who's also played through Thousand Arms, pleases back me up! The fighting in that game is DULL!)

Hate to say, but SK (Sarah's Knight) is right. That battle system was a major let-down. If they would have made it to were all three people could fight at the same time, them MAYBE.

But I will say that the dating system to upgrade your weapons was pretty freakin sweet. But battle? No... not at all.

Anyone play Okage, or Wild Arms 3? Found them cheap.

Okage? I never really got into it. I mean, it seemed okay... but it really didn't tickle my fancy. I borrowed it from a friend for a few days but gave it back because I had a better games I wanted to get behind me.

Wild Arms 3 however is a great game. That comes partial to the fact that I'm a Wild Arms fan though.

If you've played the first or second, you really would like the third. But you don't have to play the first or second to understand the third. It's like Final Fantasy in the way of being a separate story from the other installments. But yeah... good game.
