Guar, thanks for the idea when you posted that "VG Family" thing a long time ago. It was awesome. In anything, Princess Peach deserved a bit of recognition there as a suitable wife, for while she probably takes a backseat now to all of the VG girls with twin grenade launchers whose breasts defy all logic and gravity, we all have to admit that she was easily the first heartbreak of those born in the NES generation like most of us here. ^_^

If I may go just a little farther than you did, though. In fact, quite a bit.

I present to you all, the VG family of Sarah's Knight, beginning with the immediate family he was forced to live with as a child and young adult. Ah, good old escapism.

Father
Andrew Ryan (Bioshock)
Image
Believe it or not, yes. One of the most arrogant and self-serving bastards in all of VG history would also make the best father for SK, because he would serve as the perfect example of what kind of man NOT to be when I grow up. And, well, how many people in this world want to be like their fathers? As Sarah's Knight, Ryan would be the ideal family figure I would take great pleasure in disowning and adamantly denying the fact that it was his loins my life was born from.

There is one trait I admire in him, though, that actually better gives the appearance of awesomeness when used by villains: the man invites death just to show defiance to his worst enemy. That scene in Bioshock wasn't at all depicting the protagonist putting a golf club into Ryan's brain; somehow it was, instead, Ryan inserting his manhood through the eye socket of Fontaine’s skull and vigorously thrusting one last time.

Alternate Choice:
Flynn (Tales of Vesperia)
Image
But let's not be entirely negative, here. As a father whose ways I would want to pursue, there is the picturesque noble and dutiful knight, Flynn. No need for further explanation.

Mother
Alouette (La Pucelle Tactics)
Image
Now, this is, or course, assuming that my father is Flynn, and not Ryan. After all, while Alouette is very innocent, it isn't in that
gigglish-maiden kind of way (which is good sometimes of course), but in the very prim and stoic sense, so she's also way too intelligent and level-headed to be taken in by a man that clearly uses women for self-indulgence. But the reason I would choose Alouette over "Your Mom From Earthbound" ...
Image
... is probably because, being a boy, the more ideal mother would probably be one who is gentle like Alouette, of course, but at the same time would be the kind to get the most important virtues taught to me and then encourage me to become independent and get out of the nest at a reasonable time, while - come on - the Mom in Earthbound would keep doing your laundry and cooking your meals well into your thirties, however well-meaning she is.

Twin Brother
Hiro (Lunar: Eternal blue)
Image
"Hey, Brother SK, I was thinking of visiting those old ruins a few miles outside of the village today and seeing if I can get my hands on the "legendary treasure" that's supposed to be hidden within. Maybe there's a cute princess being held prisoner by a demon there, too. You busy today?"

"Not at all. And besides, with our shared knowledge of swordplay the two of us together would certainly have a better chance against the monsters within than if you had asked that annoying little critter you call 'Ruby' to tag along instead."

Younger Sister
Carol (Wild Arms 5)
Image
Now, granted, I can readily concede that enough exposure to the anime culture has most likely taught me to be comfortable with this concept, but without the assumption of a young girl being intended as a tool for perversion by her inclusion in this thread, ... well, a cute and soft-spoken girl like Carol whom you just cannot help but want to protect would make an ideal little sister.

The Wise Elder Sister
Philia Felice (Tales of Destiny)
Image
I am facing your typical expected life problem that any boy would in his high-school days, ... and the elder sister, while being in her early twenties and now taking care of herself, has not yet been married, so she still lives in our house. So, I do what I've done every time when I need a sibling's loving advice: venture down the hall to her room late in the evening, politely knock on the door, and when she concedes for me to enter, no one but Philia looks more suited to being found sitting cross-legged in her favorite chair, eyes closed with a contented look on her face as she listens in a near-meditative state to "Canon" in D major.

"What is it I can do for you, SK?"

"Well, Sis', you see, I ...."

"Brother, perhaps in distressing times as these it would bode well for you to remember this old proverb ...."

An interesting thread, though I don't quite know how to respond to it.

Except that Andrew Ryan is the best/worst father. :p

This looks pretty fun. I'll try to come up with a similar list and have it be more than just a series of waifus (that's what my Twitter is for).

Preliminary list- only allowing 1 character per franchise- pics to come later:
Immediate family:
Father - Archer (Fate/Stay Night)
Mother - Akiko Minase (Kanon)
Older Sister - Lightning (Final Fantasy XIII)
Older Brother - Haken Browning (SRW OG Endless Frontier)

Second generation:
Wife - Nina (Breath of Fire II)
Older son - Dean Stark (Wild ARMs 5)
Older daughter - Cocona Bartel (Ar tonelico)
Twin younger daughters - Sophie (Tales of Graces) and Kooh (Pangya)

Wow. That was like 3 years ago! XD
I am going to shamelessly link my perfect family back then and the expanded version. (Add views to my poor blog! DO IT!)

I feel like there is a need to revisit and remake it. I don't want a wife anymore (never did)although Peach still has a soft spot in my heart.

Allow me to introduce you to my extended family, next. They're much better worth the occasional trips to out of town in order to see them than my IRL family is. ^_^

Grandfather
Citan Uzuki (Xenogears)
Image

"Yo! Granddad!"

*Citan looks up from tinkering with machinery (he would be looking up from doing some gardening instead were he anyone else)*

"Carol, my dear child! It's you! And ... SK ....?"

*Citan sees Carol waving from the edge of the yard as I am just now climbing up over the last edge of the mountain slope, a little out of breath (there's a dangerous mountain path you have to traverse just to get up to Citan's house in the game he came from, you know)*

"What brings you both here?"

*I politely look away, coughing up a bit of dust from the trail*

"Um, right .... Do you still have that strange flying contraption you found in your archaeological days stowed away somewhere among all of that other stuff you're always tinkering with, Granddad? I'd like to borrow it for a research project on wind physics I'm doing in school. Brother SK was just escorting me up here because of all of the kung-fu-fighting mountain wolves that sometimes appear on the mountain path."

"Of course, Granddaughter. I'm sure it's still out in the old shed, somewhere. While I search for it, why don't you two kids run on inside and have some tea with your grandmother? She'll be most happy to see you."

... And there you have it.

Grandmother
An elderly version of Sarah Jerand (Star Ocean 4)
Image

Although looking somewhat like a younger woman, being an angel and wearing those glasses she somehow still pulls off a more grandmotherly look at the same time. Sarah is easily pictured sitting comfortably in a velvet armchair just knitting away at some stockings, probably near a decades-old radio tuned to either the classical music station or NPR, while her more energetic husband Citan is outside doing all sorts of random work around the yard. ... And she knows there's no need to worry for him; he knows enough martial arts from his day to be able to handle a mountain wolf should one come too close to the house.

Oh, and Sarah really knows how to bake chocolate-chip cookies and very subtly guilt-trip her grandchildren into attending church on Sunday mornings more often. She is a master at holding a smile and keeping both eyes forward while slipping one hand over to smack one of them in the back of the head just when he/she is starting to nod off in the middle of the sermon.

That Best-Friendish Cousin
Miku (Fatal Frame)
Image

... Miku ......

What's to be said of her other than that she is a very nervous and twitchy girl who is reluctant to get involved in zany adventures in old abandoned ruins, the deep parts of the woods, or even just the busy part of downtown every time she comes into town to see her favorite cousin (who she also hates the most for the trouble he involves her in), and all with good reason? No one else in the family but Miku accidentally wound up spending an entire night alone in a huge haunted mansion being chased by the ghosts of every victim who had died there in a twisted, sordid history of violent rituals and occultism. This has proved enough adventure for her for a lifetime, already.

"SK, no, please. NOT THIS TIME! Just once I would like for this to be a normal visit for me! Can't we just play hide-and-seek around the neighborhood with your friends or ... or something?"

Alternate Choice:
Mio (Fatal Frame 2)
Image

... She too would make the ideal cousin image for the exact same reasons above with Miku, ... only it was a haunted village.

Besides, while I do not necessarily condone marriage or other such relations between cousins (I am not originally from Arkansas, after all), still, there's nothing wrong with having a female cousin who is cute. ^_^

I actually have three such cousins in my family IRL, all from the same aunt and uncle, strangely. (Calm down; they’re all in their twenties.)

The Uncle Who Just Never Shuts Up
Revan (Tales of Vesperia)

... Seriously, what can this guy teach me in my youthful life to prepare me for taking on life as a man? Teach me how to cheat at Poker and get close enough to pretty girls in order to touch their rear ends without it being too obvious? How many of us also have an uncle serving as one of the proper role models for us in the family, huh? ^_^

Still, they're usually good for the laughs.
________________________
Stern But Kind-Hearted Aunt
Racquel Applegate (Wild Arms 4)
Image

... who also kicked a lot of butt back in her days as a vibrant young woman. Racquel knew some martial arts herself, and god have mercy on any man who followed her home at night after school with unsavory intentions, or any soldier who dared make fun of her for aspiring to serve in the army as a woman alongside the men back in the first World War, 'lest they feel the full brunt of being on the wrong end of a good Chuck Norris roundhouse to the jaw. Life was tough back in those days but she knew how to handle them. ... Now, Auntie Racquel just uses her infamous old sword to serve all family guests at her house some of her legendary apple pie, which she bakes like God made apples specifically to be suspended in delicious cinnamon filling.

More to come, later. I'm saving the dear wife and the two mischievous gleams that our eyes once shared for the last.

Great-Grandfather (Who So Happens To Have An Esteemed Place in History)
Guan Yu (Dynasty Warriors)
Image

Unfortunately Dad (the Bioshock one) didn't take too much after his grandfather, the revered honorable warrior Guan Yu. Lord Guan's principles were just too darn noble and selfless for Dad's tastes, you can imagine. But Brother Hiro and I certainly look up to him. ... And now the enitre family has a history and tradition of revered warriors who believe in loyalty and honor, ... but those like myself and Hiro who have learned the way of the sword to protect the innocent are also unrealistically expected to
have warrior skills as truly divine as Lord Guan's was, and to grow a long flowing beard just like him. I respect Great-grandfather and all, but ... no way on the beard.

Great-Grandmother (The Same)
Freya Crescent (Final Fantasy IX)

It is said that no one in all of history was a more fierce protector than our revered great-grandmother Freya, however. She was much like her husband, Lord Guan, just, you know, ... of the female gender, ... and Burmecian, not Chinese.

The Estranged Cousin
Luis Sera (Resident Evil 4)
Image

Yeah, this is the long-lost kind of family member who only comes around anyone else in the family once every three or four years, with tales of some grand adventure or extremely risky business undertaking his life had been revolving around. 'Been traveling the world trying to find himself ever since he had grown old enough to leave the house at the first opportunity. So of course, the sensible and stern Auntie Raquel often scolds him whenever he returns home in hopes that Cousin Luis will eventually learn to settle down and start taking more responsibility in his life. ... Still, he's quite an interesting fellow. Besides, it is Luis who claims to be "quite the ladies man", so it was basically through his teaching that I was able to eventually charm my wife into consenting to marry me. ^_^

... Did you know he also used to be a cop in Madrid? ... 'Didn't last long, though.

__________________________

The Awesome Brother-in-Law
Snake (Metal Gear Solid 3)
Image

Yes, my wise and spiritually serene elder sister Philia had always thought she was bound to become an old maid, ... but even now she often wonders how it is she ever agreed to marry someone who wakes up to danger on a daily basis, ... and seems to take a subtle enjoyment in it. Well, it does give Philia something to be proud of in her husband even as her girlfriends occasionally question why Snake never seems to be home; every week he's off saving an entire nation from downfall to some larger, tyrannical power, or attempting to prevent entire world wars from starting with a daring rescue of some major government figure.

__________________________

All right. In the next few days, I will conclude this with the wife and children. 'Hope you find meeting them a distinct pleasure.

All right. Sorry about that. I had actually forgotten about keeping up with this thread. But this is the last part.

See? SK's all grown up and created a family of his own, now. He married a beautiful Princess, begat a few brilliant children, and found some awesomely unusual housepets to help him guard his precious family and estate from agents of Evil.

Only Son
Jude Maverick (Wild Arms 4)
Image

Okay, honestly, I could not think of many possibilities for this one position in the VG family. So, I went with someone who might closely resemble his old man (SK) in terms of fierce determination to do what he believes is right and protect cute girls like Yulie all at the same time, proneness to giving childlike and idealistic but ball-busting speeches to the villains he is about to face in combat, and tendency to display awesome spontaneous powers that are fueled by righteous indignation. ... You know, so there's Jude. He makes his old man proud.

First Daughter
Eleanor Lamb (Bioshock 2)
Image

My adopted child, yes, as you can probably guess. But it was nearly impossible to avoid developing a lasting bond with a little girl I must have risked my life against literally hundreds of Splicers and Big Sisters to save from that godforsaken dreadful underwater city, you must understand, yes? I certainly couldn't leave Eleanor all alone in the human world she never had contact with all of her life before being brought up above ocean level, and besides, after witnessing her soon-to-be father forsake all sense of self-preservation in order to show mercy to his enemies and exorcise several other Little Sisters of their demonic states, little Eleanor's sad face in the above picture has long since disappeared, and so it was her wish to stay at the side of the one who helped to at last bring the perpetual smile to her solemn face, as his second daughter. ... Come on, I can do a better job at parenting than her evil-scientist biological mother, anyway.
________________________

Second Daughter
Momo (Xenosaga)
Image

Oh, and this is my biological daughter. It was her mother who taught her how not only to be a woman of nobility and feminine piety, but also how to perform magical-heroine transformations just before she is about to fight a giant monstrous beast without inmodestly getting naked in front of nearby witnesses.
________________________
Our Three Pets
1) Hamlet (Illusion of Gaia)
Image

2) Yttanya (La Pucelle Tactics)
Image

3) Metal Shark Player (MegaMan X6)
Image

Hey, laugh at the last one all you want for not being a typical choice of housepet, but no demon thinks to come near the house bearing hostile intentions towards me or my family when a robotic hammerhead shark armed with a heavy anchor is seen patrolling the premises. And the second, well, I don't know which among us here wouldn't want to have a feline pirate - hook-hand and all - in their household.

____________________________________________

And now, finally, allow me to have the honor of introducing you to my sweet wife. There were many Princesses, maidens, and angels I had had the honor of protecting from Evil throughout my young life as a Knight of the Northern Longblade - Luna, Rena, Cherie, Selphie, Penelo, Estelle (who was actually a real princess, by the way), and many other adorably cute and innocent female creatures - but of course in the end there could only be one Princess whom I would eventually fall in love with and ask to actually be my Princess for the rest of this life, not just one to be placed in my charge and for me to endlessly dote on.

Image
Forgive me, Princess, but it is not you.

A girl like Cecylia or Yulie might invoke the protector's instinct in me with their seeming delicate nature and seeming helplessness that one cannot help but feel moved to sympathize with them, and a girl like Estelle or Selphie might do or say something so extraordinarily cute and lovable that I must fiercely fight back the desire to do the naughtiest sexual deed possible to them, ... but as marriage material the stoic, demure, and noble wife is undoubtedly the best suited. ...... And that noble woman would be Miss Avril ->

My Destined Princess (The Missus)
Avril (Wild Arms 5)
Image

'Hope that was enough to take you by surprise. And that, dear boys and girls, was the last member of the vast and diverse group of imaginary creatures that make up the VG family of Sarah's Knight - the beautiful angelic woman whom I once fondly referred to as "Miss Avril" back when I was her devoted protector, but now presently the precious girl whom I most lovingly call "darling Avril" (and something a bit more intimate than that during the more sacred moments of passion, but of course, as I stated recently in another thread, to go into further detail about that particular part of Avril's and my marriage would just be both distasteful and obscene ^_^).

I said that I would take a look at mine and update it, but I'm feeling a bit lazy about it.
