We have finally reached that miraculous point, that I thought wouldn't even be here until well into winter of 2014. Tomorrow at 10 AM PST, Steam keys will be mailed out.

Starbound Beta!

Here's the deal- this is the first phase of beta, and things can be super wonky. Not everything is implemented yet, and current hype/press streamers have been having crashes, all that stuff. Some of it was fixed quickly in the past couple days, a lot of stuff probably hasn't. Basically, just don't expect a demo beta like Blizzard tends to put out.

You can still get a beta key at anytime by buying the game from Steam tomorrow. It will be an Early Access title, and it will only be available through Steam right now so they can push out updates easily and frequently. People who have already pre-purchased will receive Steam keys in their email tomorrow from Humble Bundle.

A lot of the hype/press videos have not made a lot of progress... as in progressing through tiers. Mainly, most have been stuck in tier 1, and progressing seems to be a lot more time consuming than in Terraria. Of course, that can change completely as well since beta is beta.

Novakids aren't available, nor are certain quests, monster taming, fossils, and pets. But a lot really is there from what I've seen on the streams(one guy streamed for nearly 24 hours straight).
